A consolidation trade could still fix the roster and they have the assets for it. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

I like the Sexton deal in a vacuum. They got a better/younger player, but I don't actually think Sexton is very good and if they are just replacing Mann with him its probably more of a wash overall.

No, they are not trying to ACTIVELY lose this year.

I believe (and the owners said much of this to us in person in their "plan")
this year is about working in the new guys, seeing where they need to add more talent, acquiring more players via the draft, maybe also a big trade at the deadline or more likely next summer , adding picks thru roster moves and smaller trades, changing the culture, getting stronger and learning how to play with a more consistent team of actual NBA players. Having a consistent rotation of dudes that plays together and builds chemistry.

This is a full 3 season planned rebuild and we are about 2/3 of the way through is the way I read it.

I am fine with being organically better and more entertaining next year. Smarter Passionate Healthy Players who work hard and are more productive is more easy to be a fan of then the garbage g leaguers, lazy guys, and the "needs a day off" crew.

I'm guessing 32-42 wins unless we make a surprise huge deal now or at the deadline if we are better than expected at that point. Here's to hoping.....

so we're almost 2 full offseasons deep into what you think was a 3 year rebuild and we have basically the same thing we had 2 year ago, LaMelo/Miller and a bunch of spare parts. that seems concerning

Speaking of LaMelo/Miller the team just posted this:

I just want a healthy season for the both of them. I don't think that's too much to ask.

I'd do a sign and trade of Mann for Portis.

Looks like we just got Pat Connaughton. Sounds about white to me.

Also 2 second round picks and didn't have to eat Micic's salary. Seems like a useful deal. Pat has also won a title and can help mentor the newbs.

I propose we sign Ayton to a 3 year at the full mid level with a 3rd year player option. Then we can call the lakers and offer to trade him for Knecht, a first and a future swap.

How many fricken old mentors can a team afford?? If Pat isn’t unpacking his suitcase I’ll retain some hope for something else bigger. Otherwise, more of the same cracker crumbs and moldy cheese. Now…is he a better backup than Green? Yes. Better than Micic? Of course. But come on…

Can you imagine seeing Knipple, Conn, Liam all on the court at the same time?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Adding the mixed pieces together, we turned Mark Williams and Nurkic into Sexton, Connaughton, 2 1sts, and 3 2nds. I understand the heartburn around moving Mark, but that's not bad business.

Best ability is availability that's ultimately what cost Mark in the end.

If Jeff can get Claxton in teal/purple new ownership needs to give him a massive raise.
