He has to clear waivers. After that, anyone will be able to sign him for any amount.

A 2-year TPMLE would be interesting, essentially giving another two-year runway.

If it's part of a Giannis trade, I am interested. Future picks are useless for us unless we have another big trade line up.

I find it interesting that we got a second round pick. Yes, I suppose we helped ATL by letting them use a TPE and save their MLE, but often in these free agent situations when a team can just sign a guy, the seller actually pays something to turn it into a trade so they can get a TPE. If I was Connelly, I’d have created leverage by giving ATL the idea that we might just sign NAW for $14, and worry about lux taxes and the apron at the deadline?

That said, I’m still a little concerned that we’ve seen Connelly get cash instead of an additional second round pick twice already, under new ownership. I hope this isn’t a mandate to help Lore and ARod pay lux taxes, like Taylor/Kahn traded down a pick to get the cash to fire Rambis.

The cash we are getting is insignificant all things considered. I'm wondering if the cash received goes against or credited to our cap money.

It goes straight in the owner’s pocket with no effect on team salary, aprons, or luxury tax.

You could say that about any proposed trade. Here though, we were able to see that ATL was willing to give “something”

Not useless, definitely important for a future trade for a star to pair with Ant. I want DDV’s minutes to go to Rob, Jaylen and Tj anyway…

Since he's a vet his minimum is quite a bit more than rookie or young free agent. Lets say we wanted to bring in 2 of Simmons, Brogdon and Melton and while Brogdon is probably a minimum guy, Simmons and Melton are looking for something above minimum.

He only counts against the salary cap as the minimum 2.2 but will get paid more for his years of service.

Bingo.

And I feel decently confident that signing Ingles was a response to Minott requesting out of his contract. Ingles is on the books for essentially the same amount as what Minott would have made. I don't think they wanted to add two new end-of-bench guys who weren't new to the team. This way, there is only one spot to fill.

Would be a disappointing off-season if Wolves are not getting another ball handler...especially after losing NAW.

Many Wolves fans seem like they would rather go through what Milwaukee is going through right now.

Shocker, someone is able to shift their focus!

I've always said I am willing to go after a true difference-maker. But if it doesn't happen, I will always value continuity within the main core group.

Something to monitor during the season: Tyus Jones signed for $7 million, meaning he would be able to slide into the NAW-created TPE and I believe would keep the team below the second apron from what I've read.

Wolves should gamble and go get a difference maker just not one that is close to 40. They need to get someone they can pivot from and trade ( to recover assets) if the gamble doesn’t pay off IMO.

I would need to see the final salary numbers after we get to 14 to know if we can both absorb him and not go into the 2nd apron. But I am pretty sure to have any chance of that we would need to sign a minimum instead of using the TPMLE.

Well yeah. It's TPMLE or TPE, not both. At least not without making another bigger move.

This assumes of course that Tyus can get the Magic to send him to the Wolves. The Magic used a roster spot to sign Tyus and clearly want him for themselves. Meanwhile we would need to play quite a while with an unbalanced roster and the hope that Tyus might want to be traded to us.

Actually, its Cleveland's pick and probably a late second, which will likely end up being just some more cash.

I wouldn't expect much from Dame at this point. He's turning 35 this month and has two major health concerns: a blood clot (DVT) and Achilles tear. Plus, Wolves have 28 other teams to contend with for his services and we already know TC has wasted two roster spots on Empty Spot and Cheerleader Joe.
