I mean, who on that Jazz team is he really passing the ball to other than Markkanen and Sexton? Bueller?

That team is a dumpster fire and has been a dumpster fire since the Gobert trade. And they will be garbage at least for two more years. Someone had to take shots.

This signing moved us ahead Cleveland (for now) in the Vegas' odds for the East next season...

Lmao is this the game where he was chucking and Mike Breen called him out? I rest my case.

So it's only ok to call out the negative parts of this game, but when someone shows you the highlights and positive parts that just gets discarded?

Hoping we are able to keep at least two of the three guys: Delon Wright, Landry Shamet, and Precious Achiuwa as well.

Then get Al Horford somehow and I think we're in good shape.

New coach philosophy on PGs will matter now. Assuming Payne is gone and Mitch starts, we have 3 shooting guards off the bench: Hart, Deuce, and Clarkson with no clear backup PG outside of Kolek. Gotta assume this is the end for Shamet here. Will a new coach be comfortable with Deuce or Clarkson at backup 1? Or is Payne coming back?

Mitch
KAT
OG
Bridges
Brunson

Hart
Deuce
Clarkson
Huk?
Kolek?
Dadiet?
Diawara?

I think that's the question for me. As a min deal, it's not bad. But what was promised to him? If he comes in and has the same expectations and role as Cam Payne, then I think it's a great signing. But if he really expects to have a sizable role, then this could backfire.

Hope we're kicking the tires on Tre Mann

Even without a head coach, he probably saw the huge void in the bench for the Knicks and sees it as an opportunity to get a shot (literally) - all while playing for a contender.

But if he does try to play bigger than his role and starts becoming a net negative, he's only a vet minimum deal.

I can't imagine signing with a team without knowing who the head coach will be or what the style of play will be. How can anyone even know what their role will be? I wonder if that has any impact on who the team can attract.

Nope, the fact is, #1, that game was awful. Clarkson was bad and was chucking, and it's nothing new from him. That's been his past few seasons. And we know when he's not hitting shots, he's not contributing anything else. And we know he wasn't hitting many shots these past seasons either.

#2, you tried to pump up Clarkson by bringing up Josh Hart and saying you could make a reel of Hart sucking. Not sure what your point was there. Hart is so much better than Clarkson, it's ridiculous. If Hart was on the market, he would not need to get a minimum. Or get bought out the Jazz of all teams. The Jazz were giving away Sexton for a 2nd. They would have got rid of this guy via trade if they could.

#3, someone keeps trying to pump up Clarkson by bringing up his 29 year old 6MOY...in 2021. That's like bringing up Brook Lopez's former DPOY, except Brook Lopez didn't need to rely upon those DPOYs to prove he can still contribute to winning basketball or earn a nice paycheck as he ages.

#4, assuming you need to resort to personal attacks cause your arguments for Clarkson suck

He's a minimum player whose main ability is to take (not make) shots, and if he starts chucking, I hope the Knicks cut him immediately.

He's NOT a clear upgrade over Cam. He does not fill anything we need off the bench. It's only a vet minimum except all we have to spend are vet minimum deals. It's not as simple as people make it sound. Slim pickings is the only rationale that makes sense but, hoping he surprises me.

Better shot creation over Cam. Cam had those pull up 3's and the occasional layup....Clarkson has a way bigger bag, size and athleticism on offense. Cam was good at some things but we needed him to better at point guard things.... In addition to that bench still needed more scoring so ....here come Clarkson

And yeah I don't really like Clarkson or his game/chucking but I still gotta recognize its an upgrade over what we have in that department.

Having a better bag is an upgrade but, it's not very efficient. We do need better shot creation off the bench because we basically had NONE. A lot of that was system oriented IMO. Bench usage was a glaring problem. The players themselves were weak in that regard though.

I'm not losing my mind but, I don't care for the move. Again, I hope he surprises me but, he's not a player I would have targeted. I'm no GM though. I'm just a guy looking at stats and remembering his game from watching him over the years.

You aint wrong, but maybe he gets a big bump playing in a better system with better players? I hear what you are saying though...our rivals have straight up snipers and this feels like a path of less resistance move to get a low character chucker. But....he's a talented chucker, he's dirt cheap , and maybe gets more efficient around better players/ in a better system. He should be significantly more impactful than Cam, just by virtue of the creation and putting pressure on defenses.

Agree to agree. My textbook overreacting to moves I don't like has peaked. I'm over it. I really wasn't feeling it but, what can you do?

He has the most bench points out of any player since 2020 and we desperately need bench scoring. You keep trashing the hell out of this guy, but you still haven't answered my previous question. Who are the better players for this team that were willing to come here for the vet minimum? I'm not saying the guy's a superstar, but most experts agree that this was a good signing considering our financial restraints.
