Unless you're on the inside, we don't really know much about how he deserves to be promoted. President position leans more into business side of the operation.

How much criticism or praise do we give Bobby or Dan for each key decision? Very hard to determine.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Can't wait for the Raptors to make the same mistake they did with the Jays and choose some mediocre recycled option over one of the best young executives in the league, one who Stern saw fit to serve in the league office.

I have zero faith in Ed (Pelley isn't even a real person).

I’m more concerned with losing Tolzman than Bobby tbh. I think promoting everyone decreases the likelihood of that.

I think Masai was only willing to offer a 3 year max.

We need someone who's cutthroat. Someone who can have dinner with your wife and kids at your house and trade you to Minnesota the next night if he thinks it's best for the team.

That's all great but you don't get that far in life without the support of people and having that sort of heart. You need both which is what Masai did in that case.

I'm all for Bobby to get the pres position and Dan to get GM.

The attachment to Barnes will likely end very soon. I could see him being shopped along with IQ and RJ for a big fish. Poeltl, Ingram, Dick, CMB, Walter, Shead and the others are a decent enough supporting cast around two good players.

I'm at a loss for words.

you stuck in 2018/2019 if you really think that the raptors are still one of the best run organization. we had our peak, now we at the lowest. raptors has become the pelicans of the east.

Ingram was a success ? so far he didnt played one game, is mostly injured and cost us another frp from the pacers which are now lottery bound for 2026.

OG trade was a failure. Masai pays lottery pick for poeltl, and gets for og not even one. while new york trades 5 picks for mikal bridges. rj & iq dont have any real value.

masai was washed and dragged this org into the gutter of the league.

Bobby's first moves in control (assuming he did have control over draft):

Draft: CMB #9, Martin #39
Free Agency: Mamukelashvili, 2/5.5
Extension: Poeltl, 4/104
Re-signed: Temple 1/3.6

And no knee jerk quick trades [Dumars] that will hamper the team long term . Patience to see how the team gels, evaluate, and wait to pounce at the right time.

I was just going to post this. Give Bobby the president and promote Dan to GM, no need for search.

Im intrigued by Tolzman being GM, but not sure how I feel about Bobby as pres, but this is more due to how muddy the position is. Like what is the ultimate job, just rubber stamping things the GM does so long as it makes financial sense and dealing with other non roster related duties, cause if so I'm fine with that. Tolzman might be Weltman 2.0 and hanging onto him is better long term IMO.

But I do not want bobby being the guy making the ultimate roster decisions, this team is a mess.

Whenever just the top guy gets laid off like this, safe to assume Masai, specifically, messed up.

He became stubborn and too forceful with players in negotiations after the Kawhi departure. Masai was bitter IMO.

- Daring Fred to walk. Not believing he could get a good FA offer.
- Freezing out Siakim and giving him time to orchestrate trade to Indiana.
- Same with OG. Essentially gave him and his agent 2 years to lineup the Knicks.

I like Webster and was not in favour of firing Masai… but I don’t see what Webster has done to just deserve the promotion without them going through the process of considering others. If he ends up being the best candidate, then fine. But I don’t understand the suggestion that he should just get the job.
Yes, the Raptors have drafted well… but we don’t have some superstar stud to build around. We have a team of good depth players but no true #1 (I am not a believer that Scottie will ever become that).
And despite two non-playoff seasons (would have been three if not for the play-in), the Raptors’ don’t have cap room to bring in any notable free agents (mediocre class, though it may be).

I just don’t see how any of this has elevated Webster to the easy hire for president.

Really hoping that Bobby gets the President gig but I don't think that will happen after watching the Pelley presser.

He mentioned that Bobby is in the running but also said later that he is looking for someone with experience, which Bobby doesn't have. That rules him out pretty much!

Bob Myers would be outstanding but if not, I want Bobby to get the President job and Dan Tolzman to become the GM.

When u look at all the top execs in the nba, the only guy is sam presti. Theres been so much turnover across the nba. Bobby is the most experienced when u actually break it down. And bob myers is garbage and not leaving LA.

Bobby worked his way up and has earned a chance to run things. He has friends in the league, agents know him and he's a talented capologist

If we wanna be a mediocre treadmill team then yes we should have kept Siakam, Fred and traded Barnes.
