Barry reporting that we’re still trying to get a sign and trade done with Detroit with an asset coming back to us

Why the hell would we take on this guy's $8 million contract?

I fully disagree that the LeBron stuff is fantasy, I’ve been watching him and his people move now for 20 years. The way they put out what they put out the words they said, the respect given to the Lakers organization, it all points to an exit, but trying to do it in a stand up way.

This is how you know its fantasy. When has doing it in a stand up way ever been LeBron's M.O.? Same guy who informed Cleveland's FO he was leaving on national tv (great theatre fwiw). Same guy who sent us on a wild goose chase of preferred free agents to pursue while he was setting up backdoor meetings with Dan Gilbert and informing Cavs players he was going there. Same guy whose agent allegedly gave the Lakers advance notice of his statement on him opting into his contract yet "knew nothing" about AD being traded. This is all part of their circus.

Okay, dream scenario -

Duncan to Detroit for foticenco and a 2nd

trade Rozier and that 2nd from Duncan to Utah for Collins

Trade Wiggins for Monk and filler

Sign Dame to a two year deal at $5 million per year, obviously to stash him for next season

Pg: Mitchell / KJ / Smith
Sg: Herro / Monk / Larson
Sf: Jacquez / Jovic
Pf: Bam / Collins
Cc: Ware / Goldin

Cheap expiring, knockdown shooter, and getting an extra asset for doing the sign and trade.

A team isn't going just going to take Duncan into their space and hand us a pick or a good young player in return. If this swap nets you a second it is a win

Dame Lilliard will be out next season for injury rehab. Why would be interested in him? Is he on an expiring contract???

The east in general isn't looking so hot. Pacers Halliburton out, Turner gone. Celtics dismantled. Bucks Dame gone, no 2nd star with Giannis. Knicks No coach. The only intact contenders are the Cavs and Knicks. Maybe the Hawks and Magic finally make the leap, but with how the Heat operate, they're probably making the playoffs again.

Fontecchio lit the Heat up at least once recently, I remember (though don't recall the specific game). A real RSHK-type performance.

EDIT: Found it! Twice in 2023-24 actually:

24/6 on 63% 3PT shooting (as a starter)

If that’s the case, DR has to be getting at least a 3yr deal for 24mil
