Celtics obtain a player who can inject some badly needed youth, athleticism and ability to drive to the backcourt. Things Indy had plenty of and the Celtics lacked.

And now everybody’s in a rush to get rid of said player who we just acquired. Please, for the love of god, keep the guy who can drive the ball. The Celtics are over reliant on the three ball and lack guys who can get to the bucket

Drives per game Boston:
Brown - 12.7
Tatum - 10.3
Pritchard - 5.4
White - 4.8
Holiday - 4.8
Porzingis - 1.5
Horford - 1.1
Hauser - 0.9 (lol)

Drives per game Indy:
McConnell - 11.6
Haliburton - 10.8
Nembhard - 8.4
Mathurin - 7.0
Siakim - 6.2
Nesmith - 3.8
Toppin - 2.3

Quite the difference between the two teams!

Simons - 9.3 drives per game

Agreed. Keep Simons. Tatum/Brown/Simons/White is a very good offense. And a good lineup 1 through 4, with Pritchard as the 6th man. Just need a C & we have plenty of time (till the 2027 playoffs) to find one..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

You’re not getting all that for Brown. That’s a package you put together for Giannis or Joker, not Brown. Frankly I’m not sure either Sengun or Thompson are available for trade. Thompson probably is but not Sengun.

Rumors are suggesting Whitmore is available. I'd love to see the Celtics grab him and immediately plug him in at the wing next to Brown. He's a guy who could pop off given some consistent run.

Gotta be honest I have no idea who that is

The first time I heard of this guy was when I was looking at Garza‘s video. I remember the commentator saying something with his name, like Mi not? Don’t really remember, but it scratched my brain.

Worthwhile swing on Josh Minott -- really toolsy athletic wing -- stocks maestro 3.6 stocks per 36 last year
maybe a little bit of a space cadet though...

But I love the swing

(edit: any word on if yr 2 is a team option or guaranteed?)

Interesting. That means we are the tiniest bit over the 2nd right now. So, either no Jordan/JD, bigger move or some finagling by the deadline.

I liked Minott as "possible skilled tall guy" in the draft he was in, but haven't followed him since.

From the previous thread. I got one!!! Lol

Memokerobi wrote: Some potentially intriguing young, bottom of the barrel FA types that I wouldn’t mind us trying to see if theres anything to develop:

Trendon Watford - F - 6’9 - 25
Career 35% 3pt shooter which isnt terrible including two seasons at 39% on limited playing time. Decent rebounder and gets to the line with a 35% free throw attempt rate. Could be a Brissett type pick up whos not as tenacious rebounder but a better shooter. Don’t know much about his defense

Jabari Walker - F - 6’9 - 23
Really good rebounder, gets to the line often and solid defender. 3pt shot is suspect even though he shot 39% on 1.2 3PA last year. But out of everyone on this list he’s the only one who actually caught my attention while watching games on league pass.
I like him

Jake LaRavia - F - 6’8 - 24
Career 37% 3pt shooter including 42% last year. Doesnt really do anything else well but big floor spacers are a hot commodity so might need to pay him TMLE or something

Josh Minnott - F - 6’8 - 23
Played very little basketball in the NBA but his defensive numbers look really good so that intrigued me.

Now we're getting to the part of the barrel where I gotta look guys up.

I'm already stranded on the "won't even bother looking guys up" island

Cam Whitmore was highly touted to be lottery worthy but slipped into the 20's due to ... let's say "attitude concerns" like lack of effort on D. But then was seen as a potential steal (I hoped he would slip to Celtics at #25), but then Ime Udoka left out of the rotation and he's wallowed on Houston bench.

Incredibly gifted athletic player on offense. Crazy hops. Could be a malcontent in Houston if he doesn't get reps.

Sort of in that Simons mold, actually, but bigger, stronger and not such a shooter.

Sheesh, Joe would be probably be spitting fire with those two on the team.

Boston is now slightly back over the second apron after agreeing with Josh Minott.

They'll get back under the second apron with more moves.

Solid flyer for Boston in a season where taking flyers on guys makes a lot of sense.

hugepatsfan wrote:Minot would be our 15th player. You can have 15, but only need 14. Signing him to a minimum deal is going to put us back over the 2nd apron. That's obviously not going to fly long term.

They don't need to duck the 2nd apron now, they can wait until the deadline. However, if they choose to structure the Jrue/KP trades as one big transaction though for purposes of generating one Jrue sized TPE rather than 2 separate for the difference between KP/Niang and Jrue/Simons then I think they are hard capped at the 2nd apron which would prevent them from ever executing a move that takes them over. So if they just sign Minot and decide to wait until the deadline to duck the 2nd apron, the single larger TPE would be off the table.

Minot is a 6'8" SF that I guess could play small ball 4. So as for corresponding moves, you'd think a Niang or Hauser salary dump or waiving Walsh would be the logical moves to make room for him under the 2nd apron if they go that route.

He's more of a 4, IMO. Can't play Center. He's skinny. I think barely over 200lbs at 6'8. Has decent basketball sense. Didn't play enough to get up a lot of shots. When he checked in, he was mainly a guy that took the ball to the basket and made plays that way. Pretty good passer. Very active on both sides of the ball.

Well, we laugh, but bringing in Garza AND Minott is a good idea. They played together a fair amount, granted mainly in spot minutes or garbage time. They have some chemistry together.

Luke Kornet was also a WTF throw in until he wasn’t. Again you have to let the player development side of this organization cook and see what happens. Hauser probably gets dealt. Simons probably gets dealt. This is far from a finished product. Maybe Al comes back. Albeit unlikely at this point maybe it happens.
