Also being overlooked is Dame had a DVT. I know how likely these are to return, especially in someone who has an Achilles tear, therefore is less mobile. We could wait an entire year for Dame to be 100% and boom another DVT...career over.

Maybe this blows up in our face somehow, but I'm fine with the move. Wish there was another way to shed that salary but nobody was taking that on.

Dame and Khris each had career altering injuries that killed their value. Thats not Horat's fault

Yep. We could be a real coach away from being competitive in a very weak Eastern Conference.

Just trying to figure the new cap sheet out..

- Bucks cannot take more than 681K in dead money this season, which means Micic is giving away almost all his 8,1 mil salary. Bucks can’t offer him more than 2,043 mil (assuming they are OK stretching him for 3 years) for a buyout, which means Bucks paid two SRPs to Charlotte for at least 7,4 mil in savings.

- KPJ and GTJ can’t exceed combined the 8,781 mil amount of the room exception. I don’t know exactly how much each gets, but we know how much they can get paid together.

- All our min signings count against the cap for their actual money because they have POs.

1. Giannis………..54,126
2. Turner………….24,883
3. Kuzma………….23,010
4. Portis……………13,580
5. Porter….………..5,122
6. Trent…….……….3,659
7. Harris………..…..3,634
8. Prince……………..3,303
9. Sims………………..2,461
10. Green…….……..2,301
11. Jackson………….2,221
12. Livingston……..2,221
13. Smith…………….1,955
14.
15.
- Lillard……………..22,516
- Micic…….…………..0,681
- total………………165,673
- tax………………..187,895

- Looks like Bucks can still spend money. Bring back Rollins with the minimum and you still have 20 mil in breathing room under the tax.

- No more exceptions to use, but no limitations in terms of trading. Bucks can easily attach any player to Kuzma and get a 30ish contract.

- Let me suggest again a new shiny declining 4/30 for Green given that his contract is not guaranteed yet. Better than paying him 10ish money next season as FA.

I think what we've also learned from the last few years is that the Bucks don't necessarily need a "big 3" comprised of superstars. With Giannis, you need excellent role players who know their position in the pecking order and will go to war with Giannis. Jrue & Brook were perfect; they just aged out. Khris's body broke down...none of them were superstars, but the pieces fit. Is Turner a superstar? No, but his fit is undeniable. KPJ has the potential to be another second-tier star role player. Now we just need one more.

The only remaining problems are Kuzma and Doc. Solve those 2 Horat and you are the wizard indeed.

Pina is a clown but you can objectively critique this move as being panicky depending on what else happens in the next week. If they can add a legit wing upgrade over Kuzma and somehow kick Doc to the curb before the 2026 playoffs, that'll go a long way towards rejuvenating my optimism.

It's not not so much about that article(haven't even read it), as much as the narrative around this whole thing.
Multiple people are painting us as the cause for Dame's injury.

That we rushed him back from his thrombosis diagnosis, never mind that every doctor said he was okay to play and that now we are apparently abandoning him. Hell, some podcasters are saying we are doing the same thing as the Celtics did to Isaiah Thomas and that our reputation will take a hit!

Never mind that Dame himself seems to love this result. He still gets paid and can come back on his own time while also taking more money to go play and chase a ring somewhere else.
And of course the duo not working as intended was Giannis' fault, Dame had no role in it whatsoever.

It's just pissing me off.

I get why they did it but $23 million per year paid to Dame's corpse is tough to swallow.

It’s better than paying it over two years

Lilliard was terrible next to Giannis . He never wanted to even be here. Good riddance.

Keep hearing from so called experts that Turner isn't that big of an upgrade from Brook and looking at the playoff on/off numbers, that would seem to be very misleading. Turner has been substantially better the last two post-seasons.

2025
Myles: +3.1
Brook: -16.4

2024
Myles: +6.5
Brook: -19.9

Eh, we were going to pay him essentially $56 million this year to "maybe" play in the playoffs.
This way at least the money will keep "losing" value as the cap space will get bigger every year.
