Bobby Manning‬

#Celtics:

-Traded Porzingis for cap/tax relief, offsetting a return from ATL to BKN
-Did not re-route Simons/Niang to create flexibility to keep Horford/Kornet
-Drafted a 19yo & 2 players on 2ways, trading back from 32 to 46/57
-Signed 2 development players

Amick has been a hack for a while. But the thought of Al in purple and gold disgusts me.

Neither of those teams are contenders but at least is it warm there?

They don't need to duck the 2nd apron now, they can wait until the deadline. However, if they choose to structure the Jrue/KP trades as one big transaction though for purposes of generating one Jrue sized TPE rather than 2 separate for the difference between KP/Niang and Jrue/Simons then I think they are hard capped at the 2nd apron which would prevent them from ever executing a move that takes them over. So if they just sign Minot and decide to wait until the deadline to duck the 2nd apron, the single larger TPE would be off the table.

Minot is a 6'8" SF that I guess could play small ball 4. So as for corresponding moves, you'd think a Niang or Hauser salary dump or waiving Walsh would be the logical moves to make room for him under the 2nd apron if they go that route.

He's more of a 4, IMO. Can't play Center. He's skinny. I think barely over 200lbs at 6'8. Has decent basketball sense. Didn't play enough to get up a lot of shots. When he checked in, he was mainly a guy that took the ball to the basket and made plays that way. Pretty good passer. Very active on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, watching his highlights he seems like a 4 who can also play the 3..

I wouldn't call him a small ball 4. He seems to have decent size for a 4. He's bouncy/athletic so plays bigger than listed height of 6'8"..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Celtics obtain a player who can inject some badly needed youth, athleticism and ability to drive to the backcourt. Things Indy had plenty of and the Celtics lacked.

And now everybody’s in a rush to get rid of said player who we just acquired. Please, for the love of god, keep the guy who can drive the ball. The Celtics are over reliant on the three ball and lack guys who can get to the bucket

Drives per game Boston:
Brown - 12.7
Tatum - 10.3
Pritchard - 5.4
White - 4.8
Holiday - 4.8
Porzingis - 1.5
Horford - 1.1
Hauser - 0.9 (lol)

Drives per game Indy:
McConnell - 11.6
Haliburton - 10.8
Nembhard - 8.4
Mathurin - 7.0
Siakim - 6.2
Nesmith - 3.8
Toppin - 2.3

Quite the difference between the two teams!

Simons - 9.3 drives per game

This is some good data, Midnight.

Interesting: First Baylor last year, then Simons, then Hugo, maybe even Max Shulga all fitting more into that archetype.

I’m so glad at least one other person knows who my avatar is! Love that show one of my all time faves.

And you are correct Baylor does drive the ball more than a lot of Celtics. Posting from my phone not computer so I can’t see the actual number but he put up a decent drive per game number considering how many minutes he played and his role.

I wonder if the Bucks could be a fit for Simons. A straight swap of Simons for Kuzma saves the C's 5 million dollars this year and would give them a nice 20 million dollar expiring to use as salary matching next year. The Bucks bets perimeter shot creator right now is Kevin Porter Jr.

Need a first from Milwaukee in the deal. Could be gold if Giannis leaves and they’re paying 50 mil a year for Myles Turner. Everybody aims so low with these Simons trades. Aim higher, dream bigger

Worthwhile swing on Josh Minott -- really toolsy athletic wing -- stocks maestro 3.6 stocks per 36 last year
maybe a little bit of a space cadet though...

But I love the swing

(edit: any word on if yr 2 is a team option or guaranteed?)

Interesting. That means we are the tiniest bit over the 2nd right now. So, either no Jordan/JD, bigger move or some finagling by the deadline.

I’d take it they know the deal(s) they are making or least the set of available deals they are choosing from.

They aren’t getting stuck back in the second apron for Josh Minott.

It’s a nice asset for sure. They did pretty well getting Turner for cash and not dumping another pick (eg like Denver).

But they already dumped the guy they needed to in Connaughton that was in an expiring so it gets a little tougher without taking Kuzma back which is kind of (ralphing noises).

Bobby Manning is a sincere Luke Kornet enthusiast but I don't think there was any world (all things considered) where rerouting Simons/Niang to pay Luke Kornet 4/$41 and Al Horford another 2/$20 was EVER a notion under consideration by the Celts

It's great Luke and Al get paid but Celts need to plan for a starting level frontline for when JT returns

You have to have a career average of at least 2.5 PPG to get one of those. Unfortunately he missed the cutoff off by two tenths of a point as his career average is 2.3 PPG.

Ya I wouldn’t want kuzma but you put up with it for one year and then he’s an expiring contract you can use in a trade

Booker gets $70M. Schroeder crarly worth $15.

All those teams are better than the celtics now.

Cavs
Hawks
Knicks
Magic
Philly (if healthy)

Possibly
Pistons
Raptors
Buck

In same tier as
Heat

Larry. killing me. Add Tatum to roster and I say Celtics still best team in east.

Tatum or Giannis at rgw two best players in the East (embiid isnt a full time player) and brown is the best no. 2 option in the east.

So. Enough with your negative Nancy schtick. Next year dos t matter because our best player is hurt.
