I would certainly need a offensive mind to go along with Mike Brown...his best year in SAC was with Jordi Fernandez running the offense.

Borrego would fit the bill

We need a sniper on the bench so I wouldn't mind Seth Curry or Shamet at the minimum.

Will never happen. He left the Mavs to go home to Indy. He will retire there.

The tweet is from yesterday, 6/30. The interview has already taken place, and we'd all love to know what happened.

From the looks of it, he will be retiring while sitting on that bench. Indiana will never pay the luxury tax ever

New intel from stein
The New York Knicks, as of Wednesday, will have been without a head coach for a full month.
That could finally change by week's end.
The Knicks, according to league sources, have been telling prospective free agents since the NBA marketplace opened Monday night at 6 PM ET that their search to replace Tom Thibodeau is nearing a resolution.
And former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown is widely regarded now as the favorite to land the position.
Yet sources briefed on the process stressed Tuesday that Brown, who has been in New York for the past two days, will require ultimate endorsement from Knicks owner James Dolan before he can be named Thibodeau's successor. Brown won Coach of the Year honors with Sacramento in 2022-23 and is known as a defense-first coach dating to his previous head coaching stints with Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Thibodeau was abruptly fired by the Knicks on June 3 shortly after New York lost to Indiana in the Eastern Conference Finals.
One scenario that the Knicks are considering, as The Stein Line first reported Tuesday morning, is hiring Brown as their new head coach and likewise adding New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego as Brown's top assistant.
Borrego, who remains under contract with the Pelicans, is an offensive-minded former head coach in Orlando and Charotte who has also interviewed for the Knicks' vacancy along with Brown, former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori. The Knicks have also had some dialogue about the job with South Carolina women's coach Dawn Staley, whose teams have won three national championships in the past nine seasons.
The Stein Line has learned that Rick Brunson, father of Knicks star Jalen Brunson, is expected to remain part of the Knicks' coaching staff when Thibodeau's successor is officially named. The same is expected for some other key holdovers from Thibodeau's staff.

Lol @ Rick Brunson with a lifetime coaching role.

The new Herb Williams.

Probably hired someone who would keep him on the staff. Mike Brown is a yes man so it makes sense.

This hire really is terrible any which way you look at it.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Mark Bryant is the only coach on the staff I'd want to keep

just give Rick a FO advisory role

Mike Brown hasn’t been near a chip since 2009.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Also notice how Stein said essentially the only thing that is stopping the Knicks from hiring Brown is Dolan. If there was any doubt about Dolan getting Thibs fired, that should be put the rest. Dolan is back being involved in everything.
