Trades are coming at some point, probably at the trade deadline.

We have no value contracts outside of rookie deals. We might get trades, but if we’re giving out non-value contracts, I would expect the contracts coming back are some combination of similar non-value contracts and lower skilled/value contracts.

If we win ~45 games this year, a lot of those ‘non-value’ contracts will start to look awfully good

Maybe they try and shorten the RJ deal by taking on a player with only a year left as opposed to two, like the Wiz did with the Poole/CJ deal deal.

RJ for John Collins is now really interesting

Ainge is going to want 4 1sts and the rights to CMB included.

Who cares if they can play together right now?

CMB isn't starting anytime soon. He's going to be coming off the bench for 1-2 years minimum.

Yeah it is way better that way. I want to see the final terms of the incentives and the kicker. If the agent included the incentives in the 104 million or even the kicker value(I saw that done once to make the agent look good in the tweet, though unlikely). It just gets better. It could be 19.5 then 27.3(140% increase), 27.3 27.3 flat with 5% in final year with unlikely bonuses making up the difference to 104 million.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Yeah Gaford is a good backup....Yak a good starter.

That costs more

yup, Gafford only started about half of the time with DAL

Gafford and Lively looked very meh after Luka left and those free lobs went away. Poeltl is on another level compared to Gafford and I actually like Gafford too.

So:

25/26: 19.5M
26/27: 19.5M
27/28: 26M
28/29: 28M
29/30: 30M (5M guaranteed)

If this is correct, the Raps have 5/98 of guaranteed money.

More like 4/93M and 5M on the cap sheet for the 5th year since he wouldn't be on the team if we went that route. This makes it an awesome deal imo.

Why is everyone happy with this deal? Horrible, doesn't shoot 3s we have a bunch of players that can't shoot and all like to pack in the paint , not a rim Runner or a defender he once was I don't get this

Perhaps his son will bypass him and add a late first ;)

Yup.

And in another year, they could be paying their 2 C's 40+ million

I still think in games BI or Barnes miss, having RJ around for scoring is going to be needed.

I just prefer him off the bench as a scorer.

So was it always 'salary cap expert' Bobby Webster handing out these overpaid deals?

I guess his strategy is just extend and explore trades down the road. sort of like status quo and strike if there is a trade. rather than blow it up

which probably means no tanking

Jak will still have good value under his deal next year. This year would still be the best time to trade him with those 2 years of value compared to the current market. Will make it easier in salary matching situations. The last year with minimal guarantees also eliminates some of that late risk for other teams.

Upside here may be teams who were reluctant to take him on with the PO looming.

So:

25/26: 19.5M
26/27: 19.5M
27/28: 26M
28/29: 28M
29/30: 30M (5M guaranteed)

This would change a lot. If it was all guaranteed, it'd be a slight overpay similar to IQ and BI. Slight overpays are OK on a good team, but not on a bad team without star

He has a trade kicker which presumably limits the teams possible in a trade while lowering the potential return as well. I don't see it as a likely possibility for the next couple years.

And who exactly do we start at C? They want to compete this year. Can't do that without a starter level C.

Edit: He will be a target at trade deadline in year 3, similar to an expiring.

I'm having a tough time understanding the contract. Is it

1. Option year
2. Extension year 1
3. Extension year 2
4. Extension year 3 ($5m guarantee)
