Call me crazy but what if Dames situation threw a wrinkle to Welts plan. Think about it, Dame wants a ring, he can sign for the min this year and next to compete for a ring with our roster next year. He rehabs this year, acclimates to the team, best facilities in the league, etc and ready for next. Can't think of too many better opportunities to chase a ring but also contribute as he fits the roster.

I personally think Weltman is playing the waiting game and just seeing what teams are desperate when free agency dust has settled.

Why offload Goga/Isaac prematurely when in a few days teams might be willing to give up actual assets for.

What you and we want isn't what's best for a league. League thrives when teams like LA are in finals every year and players like Lebron are either in finals or on big market team, in perfect world- both.

I don’t think the Warriors/Cavs viewership makes the point you think it’s making. Neither team were on the map in the Jordan era, but both evolved into national attention grabbing franchises (Cavs only cos of LeBron).

They actually prove that the league can develop new and popular faces over time and disprove the need for an LA/BOS/NYK finals.

Keith thinks Mo is back, but did say it’s “complicated”.

Just a random thought: JI’s renegotiation was so embarrassingly unnecessary. Orlando could have simply waited and signed him for a fraction of the cost even with a healthy season under his belt.

I’m not going to bash Welt because he’s doing almost everything we asked him to do, but most of the issues we’re going through right now are due to self inflicted wounds.

Yeah, the JI contract is really a head scratcher. For a team that does so many team options, why isnt there one on that one? Especially given his history. The thing that concerns me is that he had a down year after signing the contract, but played through the necessary number of games to avoid the non-guarantee aspect of the deal. I believe he only has to trudge through 52 games a year to make the full amount.

That said, I could be wrong about the non-guaranteed nature of the deal. Is there an aspect that let's us waive him for any reason and avoid the backend of the contract?

And he won’t leave his brother if not for more money.
Therefore I believe he’ll be signed quite cheap here. But probably just 1+1 because he wants to get paid next year.

Playing conspiracy theory... but what of there is an EC team out there that is scared of what night happen of Moe comes back to us pre-injury and night just sign him to prevent that from happening.
