Re: Giannis Yes or No?
I wouldn't do it. Love the thought of GA on our team but it would subtract two or three young up-coming players and a number of firsts. How do you build a team around Trae and GA with no way to add?
I see Ris, DD, JJ as young players capable of playing in some all-star games. Trae is a very good player and OO a keeper. Past that it doesn't look good. Mann / Mo / Vit / Kobe / Niang add very little to a top team. Need to keep adding and developing

Re: Giannis Yes or No?
We will see soon enough if Giannis decides to team up with a point guard that shoots 41% from the field (below 40% most of the season), a liability on defense, a turnover machine, and not having the ability to dunk.
Trae had 355 turnovers to lead the league.
Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher need to stay. Milwaukee will want them.
Trae will expect $60m per year when he's eligible for an extension, but let's keep trying to build around a borderline all-star that seems to make the team when another player gets injured.

Re: Giannis Yes or No?
Without another genuine star, I’m not sure this team this team’s current core has more potential than the Joe Johnson or Paul Millsap Hawks. Zacc would need to explode. We probably top out at a 47-52 win team that never truly contends.
At least trading for Giannis is interesting and makes the franchise relevant for a few seasons.
Sure the risk is turning it into a 10 year mistake if we give up too much, but is the downside really that much worse than just being what we’ve always been.
Giannis is a 2x MVP and still a finalist every year. His length is genuinely disruptive on defence. He would be an amazing lob threat for Trae. They’d be a great pairing. He will be a 7x first team all nba player. We haven’t had a first teamer or mvp candidate since 1986. Sure he’s not young, but he’s still playing at an elite level and he keeps himself in great shape, and is highly motivated. There’s enough evidence that Trae is not that guy, but with someone like Giannis he could maybe have Suns Nash type production.
Speaking purely as a fan, I’d rather us at least try then just go through the motions for another 40 years in the hope that one day we draft a generational talent (and hope we don’t trade them on draft night).

For sure it will, you don't trade young guys including one(s) that is/are on the verge of being All-Star, and more, for a guy that cost almost 60M/year in team with an owner that don't want to any Tax.
If I was the GM, without any confirmation from Ressler about paying any Tax, I don't make/answer any phone call about Giannis. Simple as that.

Trae will expect $60m. I have my concerns with paying him that type of money. Does Giannis make Trae Young an automatic All-Star?
Jamal Murray will make roughly $64m in 28/29.
$60m is going to become the norm.

Case against Giannis........
If GA and Lillard couldn't make it work, then how could Young and GA make it work?
GA and Lillard are both too ball dominate and the chemistry just wasn't there. Jru Holiday was a defensive PG who plays well off ball and it still allowed GA to set up the offense and that is why Jru and GA won a chip together.
For Trae and GA, which of the two would be willing to play, off ball so the other guy can get into rhythm?

Bucks hoping to pitch Giannis Antetokounmpo on using 2025-26 as retooling year for team
A significant aspect of the Bucks’ pitch, then, is selling Giannis Antetokounmpo on the idea of a so-called gap year that enables them to retool the team while allowing him to maintain his one-team affiliation after 12 seasons in Milwaukee. The very forgiving East landscape certainly enhances the notion that it wouldn’t take years (with an s) to return to contention. The Bucks are also hoping that the presence of Doc Rivers as coach can provide some sort of boost.

As long as Trae Young is going to shoot 40% or less from the field he can be the 4th option on offense. He tied his career low in 2pt attempts. If you can't shoot, you can't shoot.atlantabbq99 wrote:Case against Giannis........

We shopped him around last year and he provided us with his list of teams he prefers to be with. He was ready to leave.
This off-season, he should be moved, and we should build around Daniels, Zacch, and JJ.
Trae's 40% from the field and leading the league in turnovers can be another teams problem.

Re: Giannis Yes or No?
In case anyone was wondering, the T&T board seems to think us getting Giannis would cost us any three of: Dyson, Zac, Jalen, OO in addition to picks.

It definitely will.
Jalen's the obvious inclusion. He has the highest salary, the highest ceiling, plays the same position and is from Wisconsin.
I imagine Bucks would ask for Zaccharie next -- in addition to both 2025 picks, our 2030 pick, and some pick swaps.

The Bucks will simply say their concerned about Jalen's durability and seek as much as possible.dms269 wrote:In case anyone was wondering, the T&T board seems to think us getting Giannis would cost us any three of: Dyson, Zac, Jalen, OO in addition to picks.

Hawks need to keep Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher.
Trade the guy that can't shoot and that will expect $60m per season...Trae.

Re: Giannis Yes or No?
No thanks. Zac is off the table along with the NOP's pick
The highest i would go would be Jalen, Kobe, Asa, and one protected pick.
