Huh. I thought it was reported he was staying in Miami.

Detroit maybe having my least favorite off-season so far.

Lost: Schroder, Beasley, THJ, Simone

Added: Robinson & LeVert at 30 million a season.

I get they couldn't control Beasley, but I would have rather given THJ slightly more than the minimum to stay and avoided Robinson entirely.

That’s Beasley’s Contract? Hard to leave the ritz on Miami Beach but lot of money for Dunc imo, would’ve thought slightly below MLE was good enough… but defenses will stay on him keeping things open for Cade..

Robinson just a much more versatile shooter. Plus despite those gambling steal numbers that had you ready to pay Trent $30M AAV, Robinson defends better too. Just an all around better basketball player.

$16 million a year for him is a lot! Glad we didn't do that! I'm hoping we at least got a second rounder

Disagree that he's a better defender. Stats dont back that up even beyond steals.

Duncan is a better movement shooter but he's not worth 12M more than GTJ. Should've made closer to Kennard's money imo. This is one of my least favourite deals of the offseason

We really need another 4 badly now.

A bit overpriced. But we needed a movement shooter to replace Beasley.

Both the guys we brought in are Michigan alums. Hopefully that helps the vibe.

Also I spent a fair amount of time here thinking about ways to convert the dead gtd money of Robinson into a replacement center. This is effectively that idea so glad I was at least on to something for once lol.

I know you are the last believer in Gary Trent Jr. I won't take that away from you. I've got my guys I can't leave either. I wanted the Lakers to trade Maxi and have him get waived and bring him back to Dallas. He's washed beyond Trent, but you'll never talk me out of him. :D

At least Trent is making more than THJ (i think he signed vet min?). I'll take that pyrrhic victory

Cade - Ivey - Auser - Tobias - Duren
Sasser - LeVert - Robinson - Holland - Stewart - Reed

Is Holland not going to play backup 4? If not, what is the plan for him. Seems 2-3 is pretty tight for minutes at this point.

Why does Miami want to take back that contract?

they had to pay 10M to Duncan in dead money otherwise? they save money here and have a playable body/tradable contract

Ausar is way closer to a 4 than Holland is. Young Ron is scrappy and 6’8”, but he’s turning 20 this week and still putting on some size.

Ivey may get the backup PG minutes and share ballhandling with Caris when that happens. Sasser isn’t a PG, he’s a scorer.
Ausar may get the backup PF minutes (as of today).

Those two things combined may get Holland 20 minutes off the bench as a 2 or 3. At least I’m hoping. I think he’s gonna be great in a couple years.

He opted out. They didn't have to pay him or help him at all. They may have like Font. They may be getting a second. Who knows?

He fills a need.

That’s a lot more money than I would have liked to pay though.
