Robinson would play like every 3 games I watched with the heat it seemed. Bizarre.

Just read the Beasley article and my first thought was "There's a TV show in this". My second thought was I bet there are a lot of pro sports types dealing with stuff like this.

As the article states it's not unusual for players to get advances on salary (at a high rate), especially when they are first starting out. But Beasley obviously dug himself a hole he couldn't get out of.

Sometimes there's a sense of relief when stuff like this gets exposed. He can stop digging. His career is done but hopefully the legal stuff gets sorted out and he can lead a happy life the rest of the way.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I was thinking the opposite: what if he had his life in order and no worries off the court? Would he have shot 49% from 3? But I like what you're thinking.

You guys remember the opening sequence from The Last Boy Scout? Thought of that for some reason.

He just agreed to a contract with them today, so I would assume he'd stick around.

What if you wrote something about someone who had their whole life in order and it became so boring, so conventional, they intentionally burned it down for the thrill of it?

I'd tell you that's an intriguing start to a character.

Can’t wait for the Lowe/Simmons pod where they discuss Beasley, while Bill shills different parlays for FanDuel.

American Beauty is midlife, and has the Spacey icky. I’m thinking about someone a bit higher up the proverbial ladder of society.

But I might just be describing Elon.

I’d much rather “pay” Turner $50M per season than Duncan Robinson $16M. (Keeping in mind the actual comparison is $26M v $16M)

Also Kennard got paid more than KPJ, GTJ, and Rollins will get combined.

This whole "they're paying Turner 50 million effectively" is just one of the strangest things and is 100% a NBA thing

Like the Packers cut Jaire (17 million dead cap) and brought in Hobbs (6 million cap hit).

I dont see any fans saying "Hobbs effectively counts 23 million against the cap this year omg"

Detroit had planned to sign Beasley to a 3-year, $48 million contract, but talks paused after news broke that the veteran guard was caught up in a federal gambling probe.

Not that I disagree with the general sentiment but is there any connection between gambling and his financial debt. His involvement in gambling is because of his debt and haven't seen anything that he had a gambling addiction. You comment, as I read it, implies he has a gambling addiction/illness?

Idk, he had millions in debt but that at least initially would've wiped the debt clean. He had a way out. Usually the relief comes when someone doesn't have a viable exit ramp.

He now is broke and faces federal criminal charges. I don't think he will have a happy life.
