Why didn't they hire a great coach, why not Phil Jackson? Even if he doesn't have a working body anymore, he'd still be better than Mike Brown surely...

this means nyk NEVER had a plan to replace thibs

and this kind of FO/OWNER is why no one voluntary wants to play for the knicks,,,,,,, unless its an ex-nova

brown is a ,,,,,nice early stage coach. he is super well-liked and i would love him as my next door neighbor. he was well-suited for a team like sac

but nyk should have bigger goals and i think they DID. but dolan fkkkkd them up once again with no plan post-thibs

If Mike Brown takes them to the Finals, no one will care. He's one of the few coaches out there who might literally not care about the NY Media (guy is very gregarious).

I think he kind of got a raw deal in Sacramento personally because their front office kept drafting guards. Mike could do the funniest thing by actually excelling in NYC.

Nope, he played fast because of the roster, he wanted to slow it down

Brown is perfectly good as a coach. But he's shown himself to not be championship caliber in several stops. Not sure what they gain from this.

So there are lterally half of the coaches available that won a championship the last decade and we try to go for people that either have a team already or are kinda retired to then settle for Mike Brown. I would have been fine with keeping Thibs, I can understand why he got fired, but not to replace him with Brown. Guess it´s asked too much to sort out first if there is a solid candidate available.

Seems like a pretty uninspiring choice. Looks like Jimmy is back to meddling in the team.

Firing thibs who led the Knicks to their best success in 25 years for Mike Brown is a choice. Idiotic move to focus on things he doesnt do well instead of everything he does great....

I don't like the Knicks so I'm happy about this.

Mike Brown is a good coach just not sure if he’s a championship coach. The Kings had the #1 offensive rating in the 22/23 season so he can adjust to his personnel. Sacramento just had a horribly built roster and made some missteps after that season

I don't think this is an awful choice, just a very conservative one. Mike Brown teams rarely over or under achieve. This choice says to me that they believe their roster is very strong relative to the East and they don't want to take any chances with coaching.

The only positive here is that Mike will be better working with the players than Thibs ever was. Thibs is hard as hell on players and he’s not well liked my in large by them. So maybe that alone will be worth the change and they probably needed a more player-friendly coach than someone like Mike Malone who’s closer to Thibs.

Still think Jenkins would have been the best.

Thibs was fired because he was becoming a pain in the ass to management. Things like asking for help at a certain position and then not playing the guy they brought in.

This is kind of an inference on my part but the pain in the ass part is a direct quote.

I wouldn't have fired Thibs for Brown but it looks like that's where we are.

He's pretty much tasked with having to make the Finals in his first year to not look like a failure. What could go wrong?

Yeah, I think Malone would have been the same problem for NY. Brown won't ruffle the same feathers in the lockerroom or the FO.

I don't know how to feel about this. It feels very on brand for the Knicks to fire their coach, not have a candidate in mind and then hire Mike Brown.

But it wouldnt surprise me if he figures out how to reimagine this Knicks offense, I'm just not sure how this is a big upgrade from Thibs for any reason than it's someone else and they needed a new voice in the locker room.
