And my goddess he just so easy to root for. They're already nicknaming him the "generator" because of the story about how his family didn't have power for seven years and had to use a generator for electricity. He would have been perfect for this team.

Will say it again, the lottery has been extremely cruel to this team the last two years

If picks matched records the Hornets could conceivably have VJ and Castle

Kon Knueppel will never be anything more than second-rate. A 3rd option role player who is a limited defender. I’m upset about the pick and think it was a mistake

The journey of a 2nd round draft pick:

August 7, 2021: Pelicans trade their second round pick to Memphis as part of a 3-team trade that had us sending them Devonte' Graham in a S&T.

July 11, 2023: Memphis flips that pick to Phoenix in a relatively small deal involving Isaiah Todd.

July 17, 2023: Traded twice on this day. First for Phoenix to salary dump Cameron Payne onto San Antonio. Second for San Antonio to salary dump Devonte' Graham onto... Charlotte.

That's right, the pick was involved in multiple trades involving Devonte' Graham and Charlotte. In the initial 2021 trade, the pick and Graham went to the two other teams aside from Charlotte, but in the end they both ended up here (until Graham was waived).

June 26, 2025: Charlotte uses the pick to draft Ryan Kalkbrenner.

I would not be surprised if we made a playoff run this year if healthy. I think the draft gave us what we needed to a degree if they use the rooks. Kaulk is the rook that we need most cause the other 3 one should jump out as SG leader. Not sure we need to go the route of GUARD next year cause there are some GREAT ONES late in Stojokovic, Starling, Kayil,Philon, Bathea just to name a few... But the ones who have stood out to me are

My top 4
Mikel Brown Jr - this would be my pick based off fit for the team.
Alijah Arenas - Took too many sg's this year to not give time to develop
Dash Daniels - Similar to above
Brayden Burrows - Check up dude

Great thing is there are gonna be some GREAT options available to us. The bad thing is THIS YEAR we had GREAT OPTION and DOUBT we took them.

I think Brown could be good cause I think we NEED another PG. We can't seem to rely on MELO and I think Makel Brown should be considered.

sorry to break it to you but Dash Daniels has been disappointing for the junior National team. he's coming off the bench showing a clunky shot, poor handles and defensive struggles. if he doesn't work hard this season his NBA chances might slip away

Random reflection on the ripples from the rescinded Lakers trade. If that deal had stuck and Dalton Knecht were now a Hornet would they have drafted Kon or prioritized a different archetype?

Maybe but they really aren't the same kind of player. Dalton is a straight line driver and doesn't really pass the ball. Kon is a lot shiftier and better at creating.

I'm more curious to see how Knecht stacks up against Liam McNeeley.

Obviously the Lakers unprotected 1st plus unprotected swap rights is worth more than the 2029 **** burger pick we got from Phoenix.

The Lakers were desperate.

But Knecht doesn't look like a potential key contributor. Hopefully Liam can reclaim his promise from when he was a top recruit ahead of Kon.

Knecht was a replacement for NSJ. Looks like McNeeley gets that roster spot.
It has been written...

was this year's draft the deepest draft in recent memory for centers expected to be rotation guys? no stars at top, but tons of decent depth

Rnd. Pick Player Pos. Nationality[n 1] Team School / club team
1 10 Khaman Maluach C South Sudan Houston Rockets (from Phoenix via Brooklyn,[A][B] traded to Phoenix)[a] Duke (Fr.)
1 13 Derik Queen C United States Atlanta Hawks (from Sacramento,[C] traded to New Orleans)[c] Maryland (Fr.)
1 15 Thomas Sorber C United States Oklahoma City Thunder (from Miami via the LA Clippers)[E][F] Georgetown (Fr.)
1 16 Yang Hansen C China Memphis Grizzlies (from Orlando,[G] traded to Portland)[b] Qingdao Eagles (China)
1 17 Joan Beringer C France Minnesota Timberwolves (from Detroit via New York, Oklahoma City, and Houston)[H] Cedevita Olimpija
1 27 Danny Wolf PF/C Israel Brooklyn Nets (from Houston)[B] Michigan (Jr.)
1 30 Yanic Konan Niederhauser C Switzerland Los Angeles Clippers (from Oklahoma City)[F] Penn State (Jr.)
2 34 Ryan Kalkbrenner C United States Charlotte Hornets (from New Orleans via San Antonio, Phoenix, and Memphis)[T] Creighton (Sr.)
2 35 Johni Broome C United States Philadelphia 76ers Auburn (Sr.)
2 42 Maxime Raynaud C France Sacramento Kings (from Chicago via San Antonio)[Y] Stanford (Sr.)
2 45 Rocco Zikarsky C Australia Chicago Bulls (from Sacramento,[AB] traded to Minnesota via LA Lakers)[j][a] Brisbane Bullets (Australia)
2 46 Amari Williams C United Kingdom Orlando Magic (traded to Boston)[g] Kentucky (Sr.)

the guy the hornets drafted, who will definitely get minutes from day 1, was the 8th center drafted

I think so. Most drafts I can barely find ONE center I want to draft. This one seems to have at leat 4

Speaking of CENTERS this is probably the only one I want to draft. Tomislav Ivisic or maybe his brother. Been intruiged by them for a while.

He passes great for a big

Judging from our new GM and the current climate of the team this is my prediction as to who we will take with next years 1st pick and to be honest I wouldn't mind at ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bennett Stirtz

In fact I have pick one down to two players only. Tomislav Ivisic, and Bennett Stirtz
