Top 10 and maybe top 5 show for me. Funny and unique and melancholy and beautiful. Love love the piping jargon.

Steven Conrad’s show after that, Perpetual Grace LTD, is a spiritual successor and I think it might be even better. It’s got Ben Kingsley playing one of the best characters in TV history. But shamefully only got one season because it was on Epix.

It's always been on my radar with no way to watch it. I may have to go out of my way to check it out.

The Bear is coming back for another mediocre season of television.

Sometimes you just want to sit back with an action flick. Tonight it was a bowl of popcorn, ice cold Corona and Guy Ritchie/Jason Strathan Wrath of Man, which I had surprisingly not seen. It scratched the itch.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

28 Years Later kicked ass. Not as good as Sinners but these are probably two of my top 5ish movies of the past few years.

I love Keith David. He's great in Duster (and a lot of other stuff)

I just randomly looked him up last week to see if he was still working. He was so good on Nip/Tuck. This sucks.

Wow, that's a sad one. I was a big fan of "Nip/Tuck" but it went downhill real fast.

I watched the first episode of The Waterfront. There's nothing that hasn't been done before with drug/crime shows but it was decent and I like Holt McCallany and Jake Weary so I'll watch the rest of the season.

Gladiator II

Spoiler:
Ridley Scott can make an excellent movie when he is restrained, but when he goes in to “full Ridley Scott” mode the results are groaningly bad. I think a great example of the difference is Gladiator I and Gladiator II. The first of course is fiction and has exaggeration and surreal elements (afterlife, etc) and over the top sexual elements (inscest) but it lives well in the world it creates. It is a classic.

Gladiator II is so obnoxious, that I can’t think of anything else other than how bloated and ridiculous the choices are (a gladiator who rides a rhinoceros like a horse, CGI sharks, Denzel carrying around a severed head, etc). Im not saying Gladiator II needed to be historically accurate, but there was a solid, entertaining movie inside that silliness. But it was lost amidst the &$@%# like a giant swarming monkey army .

You a Lee Marvin fan?
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Squid Game had an awesome ending...and then they decided to make the show 20 minutes longer.
