Not sure why people complain for the sake of it.
He's not penciled in as our starting center, he'd be a back up. Got him on a great deal as well all things considered.
He's also a stretch big which we've needed.

Literally the perfect backup center for this team.

Hopefully can come in and play 10-15 minutes a game. Also gives the team some time to play small ball as well.
He can shoot. Can’t defend. But might make some of our younger players look a bit better offensively.

That's pretty good depth wow.
THATS WAY TOO MANY GUYS WHO NEED MINS
Guys like Martin and Mogbo don’t “NEED” minutes.
Not when we’re making a playoff push.
The hope is the other 10-11 guys play well enough, where we don’t need to play Martin and Mogbo, unless it’s garbage time. Those two will get plenty of minutes in the g-league.

Pretty sure Battle already has a spot on the roster
0 chance Battle gets cut. He has a case to be a rotation player next season
He was a very consistent knockdown shooter. In case we go all in for Giannis, u need him. We got the floor spacing 5 as well.
Theres now alot of depth and shooting on this team which makes a Giannis all in trade worth it. Scottie + gradey + walter (and picks), would leave you with this roster:
Iq/shead
RJ/ochai/martin
Ingram/battle
Giannis/cmb/mogbo
Poeltl/mamu

This is a nice pick up and under the radar. Sandro put up some nice numbers when Wemby was out last year.
Makes a lot of sense why we didn’t draft a C. Most likely any C we pick up in a draft that is not in the top 3 will need years to develop. Might as well grab someone ready to play like Sandro where he comes cheap and you get some upside as well.

pairing him with mogbo/cmb makes sense since he can play the stretch big spot on offense while mogbo/cmb can defend the centers or have him guarding the centers with mogbo/cmb as the free safety's in the back line.
have to keep our expectations realistic. like you said, 10-15 capable center minutes will help. we played much better from january on partly due to olynyk coming back.
48 mins at center
30 for yak
12 for sandro
6 for small ball lineups

Re: Shams: Raptors sign Mamukelashvili to a two-year, $5.5 million deal (player option)
This signing basically locks the Raptors into starting the season with a 14-man roster (all with fully guaranteed 2025-26 salary), and even with no 15th guy they'll still be 500k above the tax line until they make another move to get under.
RJ and/or Ochai's days are numbered. Ownership will not start the repeater clock for this team, considering how much harsher the repeater penalties are about to become.

Needed a different look at the 5 with a stretch big. This guy can really move and can break out and run. Decent handle. Ability to hit an open 3 from our 5 will open a lot up for Darko.

That’s how I see it as well. I want there to be some small ball, 25-30 minutes for Yak and then Sandro can play the remaining minutes. There might be some nights where Sandro plays a lot less but overall, it’s important to have another center.

I think if we waive Castleton, waive Lawson, and sign Alijah Martin to a rookie minimum, we are slightly under the luxury tax with a 15 player roster. Looks like we're all set to go.
Yes, Castleton and Lawson are the obvious waivees. But we are not under the tax line.
Battle's guarantee is about half his salary already, and waiving him and signing Martin to a rookie minimum deal to be the cheapest possible 14th guy would still leave us in the tax. So safe to assume Battle sticks.
With Battle on the roster, if Martin were to sign a 2-way, we'd be at 14 guys, and about 700k above the tax line.
With Battle on the roster, if we sign Martin to a rookie minimum, we'd be 2M above the tax line. If we sign Martin to a second round exception deal like we did with Mogbo and Shead, we'd be 2.8M above the tax line.

The Sandro deal is ok given the Raptors financial constraints which they created themselves - nice that he is different than Jak but I don't think it moves the needle any.

Having a solid capable backup C likely results in 3-4 more wins.
I guess we're waiting for the one big trade still...
No longer need to trade for a C. Just a consolidating trade.

RJ deal going to happen
Gotta sell high on RJ. He lead the team in PPG but that's pretty much meat and potatoes filler and because of his defense, anti-clutch turnovers late in the game and FT shooting he's a prime trade candidate. Who is the target though?

2/5.4 (player option) was my red line. Horrible deal.

Good news, the actual number is likely 5.3M! 5.5M is probably a reporter rounding, the minimum works out to 5.3M and by all accounts this is a minimum deal.
