That would be a highly questionable deal. We can't degrade our depth like that. Also I feel like we are out our bare minimum defensively to truly contend for a title. We can't give up 3 of our 5 premier defenders.

Again I think if the Knicks wanted to go this type of route they would have gone for Durant.

Durant is not as good a defender, is more a prima donna where you never know what he's thinking or constantly changing his mind and there was bad blood there .

LeBron is more durable too.

I didn't want Durant but Lebron added to this squad not giving up KAT/Brunson is a monumental win.

hard pass for me. I'm all for moving Mikal (don't think he's worth what he's about to be paid), Hart (hurts offense rhythm in playoffs), and Robinson (love him, but he's expiring, and often injured).....but not for a 40 y/o Lebron

The #'s for Lebron are still great, but his impact on winning isn't what it used to be. + we'd be trading an iron man in Mikal + a durable Josh Hart, and Robinson for Lebron who's guaranteed to miss 10+ games (mainly for rest or "maintenance"), probably more if he gets hurt

YEP!

The narrative IMO would be about how Lebron "did it again" and "ended his career on a high note," instead of how the KNICKS were able to win a chip after a 50+ year drought.

I don't want a championship by any means necessary. I also don't want Lebron using us for one final hurrah.

I'm Knick4Real and I approve this message!! :D

Ok. So my main concerns would be that he makes 50 million dollars and hasn't led the Lakers anywhere meaningful in 5 years with fairly stacked rosters. I think we'd worsen our team to get him. He's not able to bring two way prowess for extended periods anymore.

Over the long term it would be devastating and Mitch and OG would make the Lakers contenders. **** no.

if we could add him by giving up 1 rotation player. not in the kind of deals i see on here. how long is he even gonna play ? it could be just 1 year. can't give up half the rotation for that.

PLEASE NO!!!

I DO NOT want Lebron using us to cement HIS OWN image in history!!

IF he came here and IF he won a championship, the narrative would be all about him. The headlines would be that "LEBRON won" instead of "the KNICKS won." There would always be an asterisk after the win, and the history books would be all about how Lebron saved us.

I hope this rumor is false. No thank you, Lebron!! :noway:

Wait... your main concern with acquiring a 40 year old Lebron is what the narrative would be if we won a championship with him?

It doesn’t matter how and who gets us a chip for me. That should be the least of concerns.

If LeBron wants to be here he can take a buyout and sign for the minimum

I don't see the fit defensively. We'd be super weak defensively. If you swap Lebron for KAT in a 3way then yes, we'd be as legit title contenders as they come and I would actually have us as favorites with the rest of the rotation. But Brunson-Lebron-KAT would be IMO too weak defensively.

That would really only leave a KAT deal for James.

I like your thinking. Passed on Durant, they'll pass on LeBron. If anything, Leon can retool next offseason when somebody like Giannis could shake free.

But highly unlikely the Lakers would pay 50mill. for James to join the Knicks. The Knicks never get something like that. Impossible.

Keep in mind...from what is being said it seems like this could legit be Lebron's last season. If he retires after 1 year, you are essentially left with a non-contender and due to the harsh cap rules we won't be able to sign anyone near the quality off KAT. I do think we'd be favorites to win it all but it could be a single shot. For me, given that injuries can strike your team at any time, you wouldn't even be guaranteed that title shot.

It is probably too big a risk at this point. The math does not really add up here. If James committed to play at least 2 more seasons it may be worth contemplating, but only for 1 shot it seems too risky.

And keep in mind if you trade KAT for Lebron, then you essentially are going with Mitch/Yabu/Huk at the Center spot into the season. I could only see this working out if the team is legitimately convinced Huk can easily handle 20minutes a game.

LeBron gets injured the Knicks would be screwed for the following 4-5 years, hard pass.

The thought of winning the championship and lebron being ll over the media instead of brunson with out trophy would leave a bad taste in my mouth.... but we would still have a championship so Id get over it. Take the byuout lebron , let Dolan pay you 50 million for a live show of the Barbershop show and the Steve Nash podcast at radio city

as much as i'm not thrilled with kat i have to agree. if lebron retires after a year it'll be bad unless we win it all.

lebron is worth over a billion dollars. he doesn't need the 50 mill. if he really wanted to play somewhere else he should have just walked. now a team has to give up a ton of stuff for him making themselves weaker. that's why i don't know if this is even for real or he's just trying to pressure the lakers again. but those days are over. he doesn't have that juice anymore.

LeBron becoming a Knick and then him constantly crying to the refs because he no longer gets all the foul calls would be great.

Make it happen Leon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
