Nah Shulga was a very good college player, bigger, better athlete, more versatile.
Sign me up though for a guy that has an outlier skill, makes SL more fun and you never know what he could turn in to.

Not kidding when I say I viewed the drafting of Gonzalez as a shot across the bow of the HMS Begarin
which, to be fair, is on the bottom of the ocean, near the submerged remains of Juhann Island
BUT IM THERE WITH IT!
Begarin is amazingly only 22 still. Yam 24. I'd probably invite both to summer league and see if they come over.
I took Brad's quick and firm response that Hugo's coming over and that they are good at developing guys might reflect their perceived lesson learned from the Juhann and Yam experience.
I think it's partly that. But moreso Hugo was the 28th pick, whereas Begarin was 45th and Madar was 47th. We simply do not see team's stash 1st round picks anymore. It hasn't happened since Yabusele in 2016.
Since 2016, every draft and stash player was a 2nd rounder. Most of them have been picked in the 45-60 range.
Hugo is simply a better prospect, so he is coming right over.

Well, good thing for Max that Brad likes him better than random internet dude did after seeing their highlights. Mind you, I must have spent a good 5 minutes on each.

tbf, my post was too early after the draft. I hadn't watched 5m of highlight videos to determine Shulga was goat-tier. Screw JD now.

It would be undeserved humiliation to make him play for a 4th year.
Eh..he still has yet to prove he's capable of being an NBA rotation player. Until then, I don't see the problem with JD playing summer league.
It's not like he's "got nothing left to prove" or is "too good for summer league" since he can't even crack an NBA rotation.
And he hasn't even been that good for the most part during his first 3 summer leagues.
He's not going to prove anything in another SL circus. And not being in the C's rotation last year wasn't a knock against a 21yo, now 22.

Sounds like someone needs to watch 5m of JD G league highlights!
To try to make a real contribution: no way JD should be expected to play SL this year. But if he wants to, go for it, young king!

Any more SL players announced? I presume they'll start practicing in Boston this week.

Doesn't mean much though as JD is unreal in SL but is a 3A player - too good for G league but not good enough for NBA
I wonder if Jordan has that in him. My guess is his confidence is shaken after two seasons of being pretty bad at the NBA level and just okay(?) st the G league/Summer league level.
But of course he’s only 19 so hopefully he still has that youthful belief in himself and his journey!

Unfair slam against Davison. And the term is "4A", reflecting that the minors in baseball go up to triple A.

Bobby Krivitsky
By the way, the first chance to see Gonzalez play for the Celtics could possibly come at Summer League.
Here’s what he said about that prospect:
“I hope, yes. I'm pretty excited about it. I just want to get to work already, and I look forward to the next steps.”

Is no one talking about this?
Hayden Gray was named Defensive Player of the Year in his conference.
Gray averaged 11.2 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game last season, shooting 47.9% from the field and 41.8% from three. Most impressively, he averaged 3.1 steals per game.

He looks like he’d be a really good pickup for my mens league team. We need a guard who can shoot and be pesky on D.
For the Celtics, put me down as skeptical. If justification would help: size

He is listed at 6'4 but looks closer to 6-3. Maine Celtics, probably.

Re: Summer League roster and schedule
Hugo was not selected for Spain's national team that will compete at EuroBasket this summer:
So I expect it will be announced in the next day or 2 that he'll be added to our summer league roster!
This will be a fun summer league with the main attractions for Boston being our 3 draft picks in this year's draft and Baylor.
Guessing JD won't play but maybe small chance he will.
Assuming Minott and Garza won't play but even smaller chance they will.
Walsh, I'd say it's a 50/50 whether he'll play?

Stay thirsty, Hugo. He already said he wants to play SL, so probably knew he wasn't picked. And IMO Walsh needs to play--even if showcasing for someone else to see.

Agreed.
Maybe we roll with the 3 draft picks + Walsh and Baylor for a starting 5..Baylor running point..Amari can also sometimes act as a "Point Center". Shulga may be able to run a little bit of point as well.
Would love to see plenty of mins with those 5 guys out there..

He was within an assist per 40 the last 3 years compared to PP's last 3 years in college.

Play everybody. Miami rolls in with a team of 26 year olds it’s not like summer league is for kids.
