And suddenly Mike Brown is great because we hired him, right?
Goes both ways.

I don't think he's better than Thibs though.
I expected the Knicks to hire Jenkins.
That's the guy i would target.

We lost to Indiana--who just gave OKC (the best in the West) all it could handle in the finals--in six games by a combined 11 points. I.e., we were so, so close. And yes, in my opinion, Thibs got out-coached. Still, who the hell fires your coach then without any plan in place for hiring his successor? (Answer = Dolan.)
Mike Brown was not the best candidate but the best available. There's a difference, and that disturbs me.

What do even mean when you say they didn't have a plan. The plan was as clear as day. They clearly felt Thibs wasn't the coach to get them over the hump. During the season and into the playoffs, Knick fans were praying Thibs would get fired. Bulls and Wolves fans said that he is not the coach to get you over the hump. The plan was to fire that coach, thank him for getting you to the ECF, and start looking for a new coach. The plan was to see if they could poach a coach already in place with another team. That didn't work. Then they interviewed established coaches and a veteran assistant. Seems like they've landed on Brown as that vet coach. There was a plan, a clear plan, just one you didn't like. As has been said before, now that Thibs was fired, he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, and Brown, who has a better winning percentage than Thibs, is the worst coach of all time. Not saying I think he's the most exciting hire, but this specific Knicks regime has been clear about their plans, roster wise and coaching wise, every step of the way. They have had few missteps along the way since 2019 when the Knicks were the worst team in the league. This could be one of them, who knows.
Who do you want the Knicks to hire?

Phil Jackson coaching via FaceTime in a nursing home would be better….

I agree. I think his reputation outside of NBA circles seems worse than his reputation in NBA circles too. He’s competent on the X and O part of the job but it sounds like they want to place him with an associate HC who can help him design a motion offense.
Mike Brown’s resume as a HC and a lead assistant playoff coach is better than all the other applicants they interviewed. He seems very respected by his peers, comes from the Pop, Kerr, and Carlisle coaching tree. Also he’s been hired in some very “difficult” coaching situations before and regardless of the results didn’t flame out.
Overall, I honestly think Brown is closer to Thibs as a coach than people realize, except he is willing to adapt more to the situation he is in.

Fired Thibs for Brown? Firing Thibs was actually a good call, but only to turn around and hire Mr. Potato Head Mike Brown? You might as well have kept Thibs then.

In what sense? Because Bruce Brown, Payton Watson, Braun, and others saw plenty of game time. Either way, firing Thibs for Mike Brown is wild.

WOuld he bring Sasha Vujacic again, like he did the first time NYK hired him? I think Knicks learned that you do not hire someone who does not want to be there, they learned from Phil Jackson experience directly.
Mike Brown is fine, he is not another Thibs, he is more players coach and he likes to play faster tempo basketball.

He learned a lot of offensive game plans while with the Warriors as head asst. This is safe pick by the Knicks. Exepreince coach that will command respect form this group the second he walks in similar to Thibs in that way but its a new voice that they needed.
Cavs- couple 60 win seasons and a finals appearance with Cavs teams that we can all agree were lacking talent outside of Lebron
Lakers- Great first year and then imo was unfairly fired in year 2 after 5 games in the first year of Nash/Dwight we know how all that worked out
Kings- most successful years the kings have seen since the early 2000s. #1 rnked offense with fox/sabonis as his best palyers and had the team playing a league average defense (a team employing derozan, fox and sabonis).
The one thing I worry about and its the reason he got fired was his interaction with the Media and how he "threw" his teams under the bus. he will get eaten alive in new york if he does that. Thibs knew how to handle them.

Actually since the mid 2000s.
Kings had multiple 50 /60 win seasons during the 2000s. Like 6 of them.
