Yeah so I don’t even get why we’d be talking to him at this point. Seems beyond pointless.

Because the Warriors are on a two-year window.

And if he comes back for some part of the playoffs… coulda used him vs. T-Wolves, no?

Small price, chance to get him under Warriors medical staff. High upside, little downside.

I have ZERO faith in Damian Lillard doing anything after this injury and if he is willing to take a minimum salary then that tells me he doesn’t have any faith in himself either. Bro is beyond cooked and I pray we don’t spend this entire season talking about how this dude is our savior Jesus Christ two seasons from now. God damn that will be a pathetic waste of time for everyone.

Getting 22M/yr over the next 5 makes it much easier to take a vet min deal while you recover from injury. With how much dame loves the bay, it would be great to see him finish his career here, chasing a ring. With an achilles, he has a real shot to be back for the playoff run. As our 4th guard? yes, please. We had pat spencer in that role last season.

Linking the Warriors to Lillard sounds like a Hail Mary pass with a deflated football.

And he most likely won't be ready for the playoffs.

If reaching out to Dame with the idea of maybe being like a 14th man during rehab or even as eventual 15th man keeps other cheap PGs from taking a Warriors deal that would be unfortunate.

Like if we aren’t signing Monte Morris right now because of an idea that Dame may be backup PG by playoffs… that is bad business. Or if Monte Morris won’t sign with Dubs because Dame might sign here, again, bad business.

Hopefully not. He’s flashy, but not a winning player.

For clarity, Lillard gets the full contract paid out in the original schedule, i.e. over the 2 years.

The stretching is just how it is reflected on the team’s books for salary cap purposes, it doesn’t reflect the actual cash flow to the player.

I’d be game to offer him a two-year deal on the minimum. I’d be shocked if any discussions with him would affect any other potential free agents coming to the Warriors.

Ouch.

Have you never believed in dame or just post achilles dame? You can't possibly want Pat Spencer or our other back of the roster PGs (chris chiozza, wanamaker, etc.)?

I don't want to talk about Damian Lillard for a year. It's disgusting. In a year if he's amenable to a minimum contract then let's talk about it. I literally despise the concept of talking about this dude playing for us in a year. All morning I'm listenign to 95.7 The Game talk about Damian Lillard. I'm seeing every YouTuber talk about the WArriors acquiring Damian Lillard. It's absolutely disgusting propaganda meant to distract us from the actual issues at hand TODAY.

The positives for letting an injured Lillard take a roster spot is that you can keep an eye on his rehab, get him to learn how to play with his new scheme/teammates and possibly have him for the playoffs this next season even if that's a long shot, the biggest plus is carrying him knowing you may have at least 1 season (on a 2 year deal) where you may get incredible value for him as long as he's cheap to carry those 2+ years. BTW, the assumption is he'd be coming off the bench, you can't have Curry and Lillard starting together unless you think you can just outscore everyone which is a very low possibility with a diminished Lillard.

Personally, I'd go with roster spots 13-15 (unless you only carry 14) to high risk/high reward players (for the future), so if they're a young player with potential, a 2nd draft guy who had potential but it didn't work out with his first team (Kinda like Kuminga in GS) or someone coming off an injury. I really don't think there's that much of a down side to carrying those types of players vs having Spencer, Knox, or even Key eating up roster spots.

There's plenty to talk about without having to talk about Lillard.

Like how they haven't landed any free agents?

Like how they are linked to a 39yo center?

Like how JK doesn't fit? This has been beat to death by the way.

If they can get Hortford, I would call up Utah and try to pry Kessler and either Keyonte George/Isaiah Collier for a 1st round pick, Podz or Moody, and TJD. Hell, I would try even if they don't get Hortford.

I'd lol if our offseason free agency period turned into Damian Lillard and Al Horford.

So your argument against bringing in lillard is that you listen to the radio too much? Ok. For my money, the positives outlined by AirP, and some he forgot, will far outweigh your inability to turn off the radio.
