So Charlotte, what's the plan?
Just traded their Center rotation that gave them a combined 24pts, 17 rebs/game for 2 FRP's (including a late 29th)
AND 3 2nd round picks
plus a 31 yr old player who averaged 6 pts/game.
So they signed the 35 yr old Plumlee to replace these guys, and tutor a rookie Center?
Acquired Sexton from Utah while retaining Allstar G Lamelo Ball and still have the pretty good Brandon Miller and Miles Bridges.
Are they rebuilding?

Haven't they been doing that for years now?

They have to be tanking right? They have the worst C rotation in the league by a mile. There aren’t even any good C’s left to sign (Ayton would likely be a disaster on CHA).

Weak east for 25/26 season is clouding their vision. As is it for multiple teams.

Re: So Charlotte, what's the plan?
They have their new guy they drafted Kon, they picked up a solid veteran bench player in Pat and a good center in Miles, They don't look terrible, but it'll definitely be another year where they are just trying to see what they have/getting a healthy productive season from Ball.
Not sure how accurate this will be, but the lineup could be something, given young players growth, maybe.
Ball/Sexton
Miller/Green
Knueppel/Connaughton/McNeeley?
Bridges/Williams
Plumlee/Diabate
The rebuild isn't over. They just traded away all of their center depth over the past year or so, and the wings are mostly rookies. Ayton would have way lower expectations in Charlotte, so maybe we see them throw him a 1yr offer or something.

They have some bad luck when it comes to the draft lottery. Missed out on 3 superstar big man in the past 20 years that definitely would have changed their teams outlook ( Dwight, Davis, wemby)

They've literally been building thru the draft since 2004

Re: So Charlotte, what's the plan?
Charlotte is building around a injury prone LaMelo. The problem is they are not putting serious talent around him. It's like we repeat the same cycle every season.
If you going to keep LaMelo put talent around him. It's not like we like assets. We have all these draft picks stashed and we just sitting on them.

And as a Bulls fan, i wish we would have traded #12 for Mark Williams. I'll take him over a project all day everyday

Re: So Charlotte, what's the plan?
Jeff Peterson is one of the up and coming GM's in the league and he's been making some nice little moves around the margins. Charles Lee is going to have them playing the right way this season regardless of the scoreboard. They will finally have legitimate NBA players on the court regardless of the injuries that always seem to strike for them.
Give them 2 years and I really do believe Peterson will get them turned around now that the Jordan/Clifford/Mitch tag team is finally out of there.

Re: So Charlotte, what's the plan?
LaMelo was having an amazing year before dealing with some injuries. The team has loaded up on guys that can put the ball in the basket. If they can get LaMelo to be more of a facilitator, it might help lessen injury risk. I think they are definitely aiming for the playoffs this season but wouldn't be surprised to see a major change if they are really struggling. Trading LaMelo and Bridges could make rebuilding around Miller and Knueppel a lot easier.

Re: So Charlotte, what's the plan?
They've had a few good seasons over the years. But have also had bad luck with injuries here and there. They got good youth and offensively good players. They just have to put it together.
They are under new management as well. Decent FO. They have lots of assets, future draft picks. I'd say gv it another season or 2 before they turn things around.

Re: So Charlotte, what's the plan?
Hornets entire roster has been bit by injury bug the last 3 years, not just Lamelo. Having some luck with health for once would be the biggest step the team could take. The moves they have made this offseason have been mostly good. We will see in a few years if Kon over Ace turns out good or bad.
Also, a healthy Lamelo Ball is a top 10 player in the league. When it happens people will act all surprised.

Re: So Charlotte, what's the plan?
In 2027, the Charlotte Hornets are projected to have three draft picks: their own first-round pick, the Dallas Mavericks' first-round pick (top-two protected), and Miami's first-round pick (lottery protected). They also possess a second-round pick, which is most favorable from Portland or New Orleans.
And if they don’t get Miami's 1st pick in 2027, it will be 2028 non protected. So that is a strong asset considering Miami's team at the moment.
The Dallas pick could also be decent since they are likely going against a stacked West.
Really in one of the better positions in the league. Just basically LaMelo locked up long term so lots of flexibility and extra 1st rounders next few seasons possible.

Is it luck or is it just not building around injury prone players?
