Guerschon Yabusele Appreciation Thread
Despite your flaws on defense and rebounding you were a pleasant surprise for us during an overall terrible season. Gonna miss the "Yabba dabba doo" playing at the Wells Fargo Center each time you hit a shot. I would normally wish you good luck, but since you signed with the Knicks, I will say that I hope you have a healthy productive remainder of your career wherever you end up.

He was so good in the beginning of the season. Had a substantial drop off at the end of the year when he was playing with the G Leaguers.

Gonna miss Yabu, one thing I wish would end is our Cringey PA, the corny annoying sounds when we are playing defense, and those phrases like Yabba Dabba Doo. It's 2025.

I thought all arenas made those corny sounds when the home team is on defense.

Ours is definitely the corniest.

I saw him in the Olympics and immediately thought he’d be a great pickup for us. I was genuinely surprised when we actually signed him. He’s a great shooter for a center, has the size to hold his ground against bigger bigs, and the quickness to stay with smaller ones. But what really stood out to me was his motor and IQ. He seems like a great guy, and I wish him all the best with the Knicks.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I like Yabu, but it's not the end of the world that we lost him.
Ultimately, he left a lot to be desired from a shotblocking and rebounding perspective.
Just cannot have a smallball C that can't rebound or block shots.
Was there some unrealized potential pairing him at PF with a C? Sure. But Nurse didn't seem interested in experimenting with that.

I recommend listening to Bodner on yesterday's PHLY podcast if you want a good explanation for this.

What does respect have to do with it? The Sixers are clearly going with youth and Yabusele wasn't in the plans.
Other than using him as a trade chip, there was little point in signing him. In fact , the Sixers showed more respect for him by allowing him to choose his own destination, if you're going to bring respect into it.

Re: Guerschon Yabusele Appreciation Thread
Yabu would be a valuable trade chip at $6m/yr, but the owner decided to cheap out to reduce luxury tax instead. A common theme with this owner unfortunately.
The respectful move would be to at least make a fair offer to acknowledge what he did for us last year.

Apologists always have a ready excuse for when this owner CHEAPS out.

Dabods knows and goes where the money is. Think about how quickly he abandoned us.

I think it's more about being hard capped than saving the owner money. Also I think there would have been an appetite for signing Yabusele if he waiting until after Grimes signed so the team would have an idea of what the salary cap situations would be, but understandably, Yabu wanted something more solidified.

I'm willing to bet that the owner had nothing to do with whether Yabusele was offered or not. Your obsession with Harris clouds your thinking on every Sixers issue.

Then why didn't we trade him at the deadline last season? 6ers ultimately decided to keep him through the deadline, hoping to make a play-in push, but later lost him in free agency without compensation.
