I looked at his career as a coach . Not bad.. I know he had LeBron but you still had to motivate the rest of the team to buy in especially LeBron .

Besides the Lakers 1-4 start it’s been a good career.
It seems when players buy in it’s success

Not the sexy choice but probably the most qualified for what we need. I'm good with it.

This reminds me too much of when we hired Jeff Hornacek
The Suns had two really good years with him in which they had no business winning as many games as they did. Then Phil hired him. Hornacek did as well as anyone could under Phil, and then under Perry/Mills
doesn't Brown have considerably more experience than Horny did at the point we hired him?
not trolling, legit question I have.
Brown has been coaching in the NBA for almost 30 years, whether as an assistant or head coach.
Is he an elite assistant but just a "decent" head coach? We are gonna find out.
This is Mike Brown's last chance to cement a legacy as a head coach in the NBA. If he doesn't success here, I think he either goes back to being an assistant, coaching in college, or joins a broadcasting team
Hornacek was pretty elite as a basketball player and had limited experience as an assistant for the Jazz and then head coach for the Suns before coming to the Knicks. Most recently he was an assistant for the Rockets

Re: Knicks to Hire Mike Brown as Next Head Coach
1. That was my biggest issue with Brown in Sac...him not putting Keon Ellis out there for more minutes when he is there best POA defender and is good off ball shooter was baffling.
2. That one I like....sticking to a lineup in the regular season was one of Thibs biggest faults...when teams adjusted to us we panic adjusted in playoffs and we didn't have time to try new lineups and figure out if things would work. So I think that is a big positive he's willing to tinker with lineups.
3, Waiting to see who we bring in to run the offense...if we don't and its just Mike Brown then yes I will have my concerns but I have to believe they are going to bring in a qualified big time coach that can run an offense.

Notoriously no, but being that the FO is mandating that the new coach by all accounts be flexible in development and playing of young players and incorporating bench depth, I don’t see the same being true for this stop for him.
Time will tell, I think he’s a good coach that has gotten a bad rap starting his head coaching career with LeBron. Which has been with almost any coach that coaches a great player like that besides Spo, took Lue a long time shed that “he’s actually a good coach” and that was with extended patience in Clipperland.
Only real stain on his jacket is the one Laker season Brown had.

Knicks Twitter is pretty much in an outrage that we fired Thibs for Mike brown. This is prob the first coaching hire where majority of us aren’t really excited lol

How many Thibs apologist will show up in this thread and root for Brown's failure? Above or under 5?
Are you fans of the team or the player?

Mike Brown has won in multiple different stops in his career Cavs, Lakers and Kings with all different types of rosters. Horny was also brought in and then forced to run the stupid triangle offense no one wanted besides Phil

Re: Knicks to Hire Mike Brown as Next Head Coach
excellent point, another reason a 1st timer probably wasn't considered heavily (outside of Nori, who was interim for a bit)
what are the odds Leon talks at the press conference? will there even be a press conference? or will it be some pre-recorded BS? Gotta love this FO sometimes

Thibs had to go and I still feel strongly about that.
Let's see what Mike Brown can do.

Did CP drop it first or Marc? I know CP has sources I thought Marc having sources was the actual news.

When Knicks fans said we were going to get the next Steve Kerr I did not expect Mike Brown to be the guy.

If a team doesn't let an assistant go for a big pay raise then that isn't a great look for them to find future coaches.

The moves most of the fans hate wind up being the ones that work out the most for this current FO
Everyone loved the Kemba, Fournier offseason then hated it a month into the season
