Yeah. Not my first choice, but with how the roster is constructed right now, I don't think the young guys are getting much minutes. If there's a 10-man rotation, Huk is basically the 10th man.

I asked ChatGPT to compare Mike Brown to an ex-Knicks coaches and find the one most similar. Here is the response:

Mike Brown’s coaching style and career trajectory most closely resemble Mike Woodson among former Knicks coaches.

Both are defensive-minded, adaptable coaches who aren’t seen as tactical innovators but excel at getting buy-in from players and stabilizing struggling franchises.
• Both have faced criticism for being more “steady” than “visionary,” but proved capable of producing strong regular-season teams when given the right personnel.
• Neither has had much playoff success, but both made teams significantly better than expected.
• Stylistically, both have a low-key, no-nonsense demeanor—not fiery like Jeff Van Gundy or theatrical like Pat Riley.

Then I asked ChatGPT, how about Fizdale? Here is the response I got:

Comparing Mike Brown to David Fizdale highlights more contrasts than similarities.

Mike Brown earns player trust through preparation and accountability. His teams know what they’re supposed to do on both ends, especially defensively.
• Fizdale, while popular among players, often lacked structure and seemed to lean too heavily on charisma and messaging without translating it into wins or development (e.g., the Knicks’ chaotic rotations and stagnant offense).

If Mike Woodson is a close comp for Brown, Fizdale is almost his opposite:
• Brown: Substance, system, stability
• Fizdale: Style, slogans, instability

So while both coached the Kings and Knicks at rebuilding stages, Brown elevated a young core, while Fizdale’s time in New York was marked by confusion and underachievement.

I still like the Thibs tactics better, u can't beat passing the ball around until someone shoots, don't worry, Mitch will get the rebound. Thats ECF material right there.

There just wasn't that Riley or Spo available so getting a guy from the Pop tree who coached Duncan, LeBum, Kobe and Curry and won COY 2x and revived the Kings is not bad at all.

But I'll give it to Christmas before we see a "Fire Brown" thread on here.

Christmas? I expect to see fire threads after our first loss.

This team is going NOWHERE.

What a waste of Brunsons prime.

i'm not sure how he developed this reputation, because i assumed the same when his name was mentioned. but if you look into his actual coaching style it's not the same thing at all

Honestly I have no idea how anyone can compare him to Fizdale. Fizdale doesn’t have one tenth of the resume Mike Brown has. Like you can compare him to ten different other ex-Knick coaches and if the one that pops in mind is Fizdale, that is weird.

i think the fact that he's coached lebron and kobe and been fired a number of times leads people to believe he's just a likable star-cheerleader (like fizdale). it's definitely an unfair underestimation of what he brings to the table. i watched him being interviewed on matt barnes's podcast, he says the thing he really took away from his time under pop was how he made the entire organization down to the towel boy feel like they were part of the same thing. if mike brown's a good leader, then that's what these guys need. they're stars in their prime, not developing pieces. if he's also wise enough to be adaptable to his roster and the changes in the game, even better. i found studying that kings offense very intriguing. AHC will be crucial here imo but the fact he wants borrego for the job is a positive indication to me

So who was responsible for kings offense then?

I’ll give him a chance with a vet team.

Brown/borrego feels like a better fit with the roster. Not sexy but I like it.

Did CP drop it first or Marc? I know CP has sources I thought Marc having sources was the actual news.

I dont have timestamps but I heard from cp 1st then I saw Marc's tweet later that day I believe. I'm not really sure. I do believe CP had dawn Staley news 1st even before shams bc he was actually boasting about that one.

This ultimately feels underwhelming. I actually thought brown was fired as a scapegoat in sacramento, but i'm also not sure if he unlocks another level with this team.

Even Taylor Jenkins was more interesting to me. I also think Staley could've handled NY. Not up in arms over it. Pretty much a wait and see type of thing.

Brown seems solid. 10-man rotation and a potent offense with good defensive principles is all we need.

If you're in the NBA for 28 years as a coach, you are going to be fired multiple times.

I dont really have a strong opinion about this. On vibes it feels pretty underwhelming but I dont know fck all about what coaches are great and whatnot. Just hope it works out. We have a wide open window to the finals in a depleted east.
