Thibs would still have a job if he just played players. If the front office tells you to play the bench and you dont, idk how your expected to keep a job.

When he finally decided to extend the rotation to include Shamet and Wright, and they showed they should've been playing all Playoffs, Thibodeau gave the front office all the leverage to fire him.

Am i crazy being more scared of the Pistons than Magic?

Pistons lost the one guy who kept killing us in Beasley.

No Timmy, and Schroeder defended JB well.
I think Pistons lost more than they gained. Even though Duncan Robinson is better than Timmy. If no Beasley and Schroeder we shouldn't have to worry too much about them

Are they saying Mike Brown improved odds?

I went into this off-season hoping to make some tweaks around the edge of the roster to address the lack of wing depth and defense and hopefully bring in a fresh face to coach the group. We did absolutely none of that.

I feel like we played it about as safe as possible this off-season

Vegas still had us at #3 before the hire. Our odds went up it was +1000-1200 last time I checked

Interesting conspiracy theory I read

Owners in the NBA help each other out when it comes to recycling coaches

Dolan hiring Mike Brown as head coach will reduce the amount that Vivek has to pay Brown. Now Vivek and the Kings will owe the Knicks a favor

so Mike Brown can't double dip

Credit to Brown for actually wanting to be a head coach even if he would have gotten paid the same to stay at home and not coach at all

Not to mention end game management. Having Hart inbound just like when he use to have Julius inbound. And of course game 1 was enough for me to get rid of him. Game 1 broke me I thought we was done after that, was demoralized

I’ll give him a chance with a vet team.

Great question. He had the Nets HC as his AHC and 31 games into the season after Jordi Fernandez left, last season, they fired Brown who went 13-18 and lost the locker room. The Kings went on a run afterwards using Keon Ellos more and that was a huge criticism on Brown. He couldn't figure out the rotations.

Seems like Jordi was very important to his success. He won COTY with him on his coaching staff. I am not happy after doing the deeper dive into this. PLEASE get Borrego AND Nori on his staff.

If there were no coaches available why even make the change then? That excuse doesn’t really sit well with me. I was ok switching from Thibs if they had someone better in mind but I’m not sure that’s what happened.

Anyway I’ll give him a fair shot as long as towns is cool with him but I don’t like the move at first glance

You make the change because Thibs made some horrendous coaching mistakes throughout the season and playoffs. We got as far as we did due to our immense talent and the Celtics shooting themselves out of the playoffs.

Ok well Mike brown went 13-18 and got fired. I wonder if any coaching mistakes took place there

All coaches make mistakes, but there are levels to mistakes. Do you not recall our record during the season to the top teams in the NBA? We couldn't win a game. Inexcusable! We got lucky with the Celtics. Their piss poor shooting and our huge deficit comebacks were miraculous. 99 times out of 100 we probably lose that series if the universe is in order. Brown is better than Thibs IMO.

The regular season doesn’t matter very much as evidenced by the pacers who would have won the chip if Haliburton didn’t get injured as well as by the Knicks soundly beating Boston so I don’t care much about the regular season top team in the nba thing. Obviously you will portray any successes as luck to make your case here but when did Mike Brown do anything as impressive? I would like to take the focus off our former coach and focus more on the current coach and what he’s accomplished

Brown has gotta prove himself to me. Seems like a lot of his success was talent and assistant driven throughout his career. He was asst on great teams. Had LeBron. Had Jordi. I don't really see the hype in his resume that others do.

Eagerly awaiting what his staff looks like. I am not excited about this move at all.

Mike Brown on Jalen Brunson: "Man, he's a helluva player. I don't know if—Steph maybe—we blitzed anybody as much as we did Jalen…& he still scored 42…Jalen shot 50% from the 3 & over 50% from the field, & we sent the double team at him every single time he came off the pick & roll in the 2nd half"

That's less of a conspiracy theory and more of an accounting fact.

I don't think coaches are being hired with this as the primary motivating factor, otherwise someone would really have Detroit over a barrel if they hired Monty Williams.
