westbrook hands down with this team

I am torn. On one hand you have CP3 who has a HIGH basketball IQ. I would say highest of any current player. But he is obviously slow and lost a couple of steps.

On the other hand you have Westbrook who still has a motor, but struggles with low NBA IQ and seems to always make crucial mistakes at the worst times.

This team needs players who won't choke under pressure and understand the game........but also needs players who can run with KPJ, Giannis, and others. Too bad you can't take their positive attributes and combine them. But I do feel if either signed for a 1 year minimum deal (or in our case, two year minimum with a player option after year one) it could benefit us.

Why would we want an old, washed up point guard? We just cleared out the older players on our team.
I’m old and I can tell you clearly- it’s a young man’s game.

if you like to play but you cant dunk then you were never any good to begin with and you aint good now

Game is so much harder on NBA players’ bodies now than it used to be. Notice the teams in the Finals the last couple years are all younger. Horford in 2024 is the only significant contributor over the age of 31.

So, based on my best effort here and relying on Spotrac, things look very tight (a little bit short, but again, some of these numbers from Spotrac might be slightly off) even if Micic gives up all of his money and we renounce Rollins's cap hold.

Note that I think we're fine to renounce the cap holds of KPJ (because we'll sign him with the Room Exception), Prince (because he seems to be signing a true minimum), and Sims (because he seems to be signing a true minimum). I don't think that we can renounce GTJ's cap hold because I don't think he and KPJ both fit into the Room Exception (combined, they appear to go over it by $204,567...), which means we'd have to be using Non-Bird Rights on him, which we'd lose if we renounce his cap hold.

I'm sure I've missed some things here or gotten some things wrong, so please feel free to correct and provide feedback.

Albert told me the same thing when we were debating who was better, Honus Wagner or Tris Speaker.

I am not a cap-expert, so I think it's safest for me to defer to Frank Madden and those folks who say the Micic buyout should be enough to get us the space needed to sign Turner.

My best guess is that we execute basically all of our other signings after the signing of Turner, so we utilize relatively smaller cap holds, incomplete roster charges, etc. I think if we keep Portis' original cap hold, temporarily replace Trent/Porter's cap holds with incomplete roster charges (since we're signing them with the room exception), and use incomplete roster charges in place of Harris/Sims/maybe Prince's contracts (since those are probably minimum deals), that would get us to paying Micic nearly nothing to get the cap space we need. If we end up needing to pay him a couple million to go away, I think we may have to get rid of Livingston or Jackson, but again, I'm not sure and would generally just defer to the Madden types who say we should be all set.

If the way that we've structured our minimum contracts with player options means we aren't allowed to temporarily utilize incomplete roster charges before signing those deals, then I have no clue how we make it work.

It occurs to me that because we'd be signing Turner, the incomplete roster cap hold would go away, so we wouldn't actually have to do anything else if all of Micic's salary vanishes.

Haha good catch - that's a silly miss by me.

Of course Dame messaged that dude and said otherwise. It’s a much better look for Dame if he can claim he was blindsided.

Bucks' Realm has connections & he proved it, while burning his source. So I don't know if he'll have them anymore. :)

It doesn't matter if they contacted Dame 1st, rather Giannis. That's the question. And I'd be shocked if they didn't, considering they're appeasing him.

I know there's some on here that don't like BR (MD I'm lookin at you) but I like him. And for whatever reason Giannis loves the guy and interacts with him regularly. Lately Dame has been too.

Swan Vox wrote:I think what we've also learned from the last few years is that the Bucks don't necessarily need a "big 3" comprised of superstars. With Giannis, you need excellent role players who know their position in the pecking order and will go to war with Giannis. Jrue & Brook were perfect; they just aged out. Khris's body broke down...none of them were superstars, but the pieces fit. Is Turner a superstar? No, but his fit is undeniable. KPJ has the potential to be another second-tier star role player. Now we just need one more.

Nope, no team necessarily needs a Big Three of media-approved superstars. We do need like every team needs four other players involved and scoring, not just one guy trying to do it all by himself, coming up short again and wondering why. Trying to believe the bad fit was on Dame is delusional; that GM fail-of-a-move was never ever gonna to work with Giannis' 'style' of play alone--but you can't foist the bad fit off on Horst either, there were four other guys on the floor before that, and we STILL have fans looking for that fringe vet minimum guy who'll put us over the TOP! SO CLOSE. So afterward, when that doesn't work because it never will, fans can say 'Well, ol' Malik Beasley's 3pt% is down 0.37%, some savior! All he had to do is stand in the corner and shoot, he's not even a true #3!' Anybody can find a scapegoat, even a laughable strawman, it's just not that hard; also not that hard: playing standard bbiq ball, moving the ball, not taking the driver's seat every single play, not assuming you're in the driver's seat every single play when you're sitting in the back, and not last: knowing what got you where you are today. Only trophy we earned was w/o a real pecking order. What's cost us games, series, & titles is rigid dogma that 'having a pecking order' helps the team overall, when it just locks the franchise into this dead-end broken strategy with its documented failed record.

Haha I messaged him as soon as he posted that and told him to delete it. As someone who made the mistake of revealing their source and his info in my younger years, don't want him to **** up the same way.

I'm guessing Henson wasn't usually in the room when Giannis was consulted.

He's the guy who posted an old pic of Giannis in NY as if it was current (in the midst of Giannis wanting out after the season). He blocked everyone who called him out in it. A broken clock is right twice a day

Lost in all of this is the fact that Brook has been getting cooked on defense in the playoffs for a very long time. We are now much better equipped to handle modern offense.

To be fair man he's just a kid trying to start a massive Bucks account. Someone messaged him that picture. And that picture was literally trending on Twitter being posted by tons of accounts. He just got caught up in some bad info. And people were tearing him apart for it which wasn't fair to him. It's way too easy to say whatever you want on Twitter with no repercussions. I'd probably be butthurt too if I was in his shoes

He's been great at engaging with not only Bucks fans but Bucks players, and Bucks players have been very fond of him for some reason.

Fair enough. I just want another Bucks insider, which he seems (or seemed) to be trending toward.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
