I doubt that deal was out there last season. Everything else cascades down from getting off MPJ’s horrible contract (which again, to be fair to Booth, was Connelly’s doing, not his)
See. I don't buy this. Took the new GM literal hours to do something Booth apparently "had no chance of doing" for two years. Even myself, I said Denver was pretty much stuck, but I was wrong. But it's not my job to run a basketball team.

There is some truth to this though. For one, the pick needed to become available for this trade to happen and MPJ needed to shed some years on that contract. They also needed to find a team with cap space willing to do the deal.
This is totally true, and I didn't think about that. The MPJ trade absolutely would not have happened without that first round pick, which just became available. Good call.
