If Salaun doesn’t look good here we need to seriously consider not picking up that 4th year option.

As a second year lottery pick if you aren’t dominating summer league it is historically a death sentence.

He doesn't need to dominate Summer League as a second year player. He just needs to not look overwhelmed or out of place. Just need to see him playing smart doing the little thing On offense and defense rebounding setting screens and hopefully looking decent on his three point attempts when they come his way. We know the hustling and effort will be there. Would like to see a little bit better decision making in the open court and see maybe some progression in his ball handling and ability to read what's happening on both ends.

#6 pick going into his second season and the hope is "not look overwhelmed or out of place"

Let’s stop treating him like a make-a-wish kid. Second year summer league is a huge predictor of whether players make it or not. Almost no one who looked bad in their second summer league ever amounted to anything.

He’s a 6th pick who will be earning 9 and 10 million dollars his 3rd & 4th seasons in the league. Those are very valuable salary spots, and ones that we cannot afford to waste on a unplayable mess.

I remember seeing Kai in the ‘22 summer league toss up an entire house of bricks and look clueless on reading ball screen defense and just knew.

I’m judging Salaun off the standards of a lottery pick and I think it’s time our fans did the same. He needs to look like one of the best players on the court here, period.

that should be the absolute baseline expectation of a #6 overall pick in NBA action, not glorified pickup games against other fringe talent.

There is no way around the fact that a lottery pick needs to actually play well in the summer league.

My comments about a second year player not needing to dominate the summer league and just needs to not look out of place had nothing to do with the actual player and everything to do with the summer league itself. I think you guys are seeing what you want to see in some of these comments. Go back and read everything I've said about him last year starting with the day of the draft. I'm not some tiddy apologist. Some of you are just looking for reasons to be angry. Look elsewhere.

Dominating the summer league even as a second year player means nothing. What's more important is not looking awful. The Baseline expectation for any second year players should be exactly what I said...To not look overwhelmed. No need to read anything more to that comment than exactly what is stated.

He just needs to seem to know what he's doing and play under control. He doesn't have the shot creation skills to carry the team or anything like that.

What is more of a panic? Tidjane is bad in SL or Tidjane is better than Kon in SL?

Kind of funny to me that we're preemptively figuring out what we're going to be worried about

Tidjane being bad in SL would not surprise me. I'm comfortable saying he won't be anything more than a hustle energy guy moving forward.

Kon on the other hand I think will be solid. As much as I was against drafting him it was mainly because of his low ceiling. I always said he will be a solid role player.

Hopefully they both ball out tho.

My biggest panic is going to be Ace balling out for Utah. That's when we look like the fools for passing on him and Ainge looks like the smart GM for taking a chance on him.

Every year everyone puts way too much emphasis on summer league. Makes me giggle.

I’m one of them unfortunately and look forward to it

I am probably the BIGGEST HORNET FAN OF ALL TIME. I say that cause I am the only one who would STOP BEING A HORNET FAN if we won a CHAMPIONSHIP!!! I always liked the keep trying underdog of this franchise. I just wish we would win more in doing so.

PJ Hairston is my Michael Jordan.

PJ Hairston = Summer League GOAT
Michael Jordan = Delta, United, Spirit

Yeah I know but take away that 33% shooting guy and to my memory there was noone else on that team who could barely score 5 points. That shooting percentage either got us to that final or helped us get there... And to my memory we nearly won that chip. You don't get that far and diss a person unless he scored 33 percent in THAT GAME and in others he had 50 percent. If he averaged that the ENTIRE summer league that is more of an indicator of HELP rather than HURT. I will never be a percentage only guy. My EYES saw PJ be the offense on a team with no other real options. Thats different than being the offense and taking away from another player who could have helped us more.

team was indeed trash i'll give you that, pj did score, lots of chucking, bad shot selection, super selfish. he had 6 assists in 7 games. and yet vonleh was even worse.
pj was not on vegas 1st or 2nd team

Well if it makes you happy you can take the players who WERE ON the 1st and 2nd team and I will take the player who imo got is to a game of the chip with the same formula used to get us there. The other season there was a DIFFERENT TEAM going against DIFFERENT TEAMS so THAT PARTICUALAR TEAM had DIFFERENT NEEDS. That had nothing to do with the team that nearly won. So in that other season he may have hurt us more than helped us.
