Why would the Yankees use rice as catcher when he’s only caught 3 games? Where are the rest of their catchers

They wanted to go with all-offense lineup. Burned them in the end; there’s a reason they don’t trust him back there.

The way Springer is seeing the ball these days astounds me. Obviously he's a veteran but its like he's seeing into the future and the rest of the lineup is feeding off of it.

Hopefully Giminez is ok, he was getting hot.

Jays closed it out well, Springer going for the quick steal, then both him and vladdy advancing on the out on Kirk.

He should be in the game at the end of any lead for the rest of the season even after Varsho comes back.

No reason why Varsho cannot be in LF, and Straw in CF or vice versa to close out games.

I’m afraid of bassist giving up 5 runs in the first

What a **** insane game. It felt like it was 5 hours long. I was nervous when the Yankees cut it to 5 and still had runners on base. It felt like the wild card vs Seattle and the kind of game where the Yanks would come all the way back and not look back. This team doesn't quit

This was a huge win. Reminded me a lot of Game 2 of the 2022 WC round, but the Jays were able to pull it out. Say what you want about Atkins' defense obsession, but it's doing a lot to mask a mediocre rotation and help in late game situations like this (yesterday aside). Now that the team can actually hit a little bit, the great defense means so much more.

Btw judge though the guy always seems to come up with clutch homers against us…. Generational hitter.

The key is being able to hit though. Again if we can’t score runs all the great defense means ****.

Yankees' defense is also an absolute mess and it has arguably cost them two games this series.

Defense matters.

His career wRC+ is 3rd all-time in MLB history behind Babe Ruth and Ted Williams.

He's just historically good at hitting (except in the postseason). It's why I haven't been too bothered by the Jays doing ridiculous things (statistically) like walking the tying run on late in the game or walking him with nobody on. We are seeing a Barry Bonds-level exception hitter in these games.

Good teams get cheap wins. Hopefully a promising sign.

Honestly, Boone walking Guerrero may have been the TSN turning point.
