Then why pay him $30M not to play when Portland isn't competing for anything?

Not sure what you are trying to say exactly but they are trying to compete. I think they had the same record as us last year and played competitively against, us with KD and Book.

Is he worth $30 million especially when you have a guy like Clingan to play? No, but I doubt they saved that much money, though I don't know what his buyout was.

On another note, I thought it was hilarious in that draft when so many here said that we should figure out a way to get Luka and Ayton and of course now they are both on the Lakers. The Knicks, Bucks, Pacers, Clippers, Cavs and Nuggets are out. He would have been great to watch with Haliburton, but he will look good with Luka too. I just never want to watch the Lakers. I'm sure Bridges wanted him on the Knicks given their relationship, but some of those other teams like the Cavs, Knicks, Clips and obviously the Nuggets wouldn't have started him. But the Bucks and Pacers certainly could have used him, even with Turner at the 5 on the Bucks.

We have a good chance at winning the lottery in one or more of the next 6 years, though of course we don't own our pick or it would be swapped. Watch us win the lottery like 3 times or get top 4 with good classes.

I still kind of hope we trade Book at the deadline for FVV, Jabari Smith or Eason, Whitmore, our 27 and 29 picks and a couple more picks (that would probably be late firsts).

Though I don't know if Houston would have any chance of affording Book, KD, Sengun and Thompson when Thompson's extension kicks in and Book has a supermax...especially with KD overlapping a year, unless they dealt him.

With all our young players and prospects, I imagine Book will want out within a year once he gets his money. He won't want to hover near the bottom of the standings, and maybe now he'd think Houston would be more preferable (if that works) with KD and DLo.

Yeah, he was pissed they rescinded the Mark Williams trade. He wanted a lob threat. Ayton's biggest strength is running the floor and finishing, though we never saw it after his rookie year. He was in the upper 90th percentile in fast breaks. He is a great finisher.

But operating in a slow down, Chris Paul, methodical offense, didn't really utilize all his strengths, even though Paul probably helped him improve defensively in years 2 and 3 of his rookie contract and he really had to develop that hook shot and a midrange to play more with Paul since the lane was always jammed with mid range guys in the slow placed, iso offense.

He has his faults, but Luka rebounds, LeBron rebounds, Ayton will be there too..he won't be the only real rebounder...probably won't avg as much but it will be better team rebounding....Luka may want him to take off and for Luka to grab the rebound like Westbrook used to.

Luka is mainly going to care about having a great lob finisher and a pick and roll threat. I think they will work well together.

Fans and sometimes players will get frustrated when he freezes up and it looks like laziness if that happens, but it was still a great signing for what they are getting.

Sorry you're too old and slow to be a starter here. - sometimes it's hard to hear the truth.

That photo is hilarious, I can see Ishbia doing that too lol. Bron isnt coming here though, if he leaves its gotta be to win another ring and he ain't doing that here. CLV would my guess.

Whenever I see Jeanie Buss, I always remember that she posed in Playboy back in the day haha

I was looking up pictures of Jeanie back when she had a relationship with Phil Jackson. I didn't have the safe search on and "look at what we got here" picture came up. Reminds me of the owner in the movie Major League - always wondered how the baseball players got the nude picture of their owner.

“ To add more detail to Kelly Iko’s report below about an "expansive sign-and-trade" involving Houston:

League sources tell The Athletic that the Rockets and Suns are working on expanding the Kevin Durant trade into a deal that would involve a league-record seven teams. Other teams involved in negotiations at the moment include the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources say.

No trade is imminent, and details are being ironed out as of Wednesday night.

In a would-be seven-team trade, there is an unprecedented amount of detail. Unfortunately, while a seven-team trade would make for a thrilling topic at a cocktail party, there haven’t been many unexpected developments in these negotiations. At least in the iterations of the deal discussed so far, most of the recognizable names are from trades that have already been agreed to and reported but not yet finalized.

The Hawks would be sending Clint Capela to the Rockets in what would become a sign-and-trade, league sources say. Durant would go to Houston. The previously reported return for him, including Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green, would go to Phoenix. Only five players who were in the NBA last season are being discussed in the current iteration of the trade, as of now: Durant, Brooks, Green, Clint Capela and Daeqwon Plowden, league sources say. The rest of the players being discussed are all from already-agreed-upon draft-night trades that are yet to be finalized and can't be until July 6.

For now, the largest trade in NBA history is the six-teamer that sent Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks last summer. Before that, it was the five-teamer in 2021, when the Lakers sent Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards”

So basically a lot of explanation just to come to the conclusion no changes fo the players and picks coming to the Suns and other teams.

I hope Lebron ends up back in Cleveland and that they win the championship next year.

As soon as we buy out or trade Beal, CP3 will sign up to play for us.

I hope those dreams come true.

Fook the Lakers and the Seattle Thunder.

There are a finite number of minutes available. Whose minutes is Paul going to pirate? Same for Beal. Neither is part of the future of this team. Better to play these young new parts to determine what exactly we have. This isn’t about Ws.

About Beal…. As mentioned, his accepting a buyout is likely contingent on finding his next team. It’s been established he is pretty picky on where to live. I don’t think he is getting the offers/interest. Furthermore, if I’m a GM, why waste my TMLE or cap space on BrittleBrad. When waived, he’s a vet minimum.

There is a game of chicken going on. We should make it clear we have ZERO intention of playing him.

My how things have changed since the day of his acquisition. Didn’t Book say ‘who’s going to guard us’ ? Now it’s gtfo

The chaos this would cause would be almost as entertaining as actual trades being made. Imagine having to circle back and start over. We'd no longer have picks in this past draft. We might still get Brea. And Mark Williams. What a disaster it would be.
