LAL - Chicago - Portland

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Thu Jul 3, 2025 1:23 am

Chicago trade: Smith, Philips, POR 2026 LP 1st
Chicago receive: Knecht, Milton

Portland trade: Thybulle, GSW 2028 2nd, 2029 worse of IND/WAS 2nd
Portland receive: Kleber, POR 2026 LP 1st

LAL trade: Knecht, Kleber, Milton
LAL receive: Smith, Thybulle, Philips, GSW 2028 2nd, 2029 worse of IND/WAS 2nd

Why for Chicago: cash in the POR 1st into a 3 pt shooting prospect
Why for Portland: get rid of pick obligation
Why for LAL: add backup C and a defending SG to round out roster

I would rather just Keep Thybulle. We're gonna have a top 3 defense next season with Camara, Thybulle, Deni, Grant on the wings with Jrue and Clingan etc.

We probably won't make the playoffs anyways since we wont have any offense so it's moot.

Think a portland fan pointed out if you dont own your 2028 1st then you cant swap with Milwaukee or something

I'm not sure about the details, but we I think we can swap the Magic pick if we want?

Lakers would rather just do the deal with Chiraq straight up and get that first and fill a need.

That’s not how that works. I think this is a great deal for Portland. It’s essentially Thybulle and 2 2nds for matching salary and our first back. If Portland squeaks into the playoffs in any of the upcoming years, then they get that 1st, which isn’t likely in the teens because we won’t likely be an upper seed. If we don’t ever make it to the playoffs, but the Bucks collapse in 2028, we will have the ability to swap with them. Additionally, having that pick opens up trade ability with more future picks if the right deal comes along. There is a chance that this doesn’t pay off, where we never make the playoffs in time and the swap is moot because we remain worse than the Bucks and we never make a big trade, but sacrificing Thybulle for one of those options is worth it.

Shooting even more 3 pointers is not really what Chicago needs, they were already 3rd in the league in 3pt attempts this year on a perfectly respectable percentage.

It's reasonable for Portland, but not great. Id probably say No & hold out for something better.

Terrible for the Bulls here & WAY too good for Lakers.

Better to work out a deal with CHI and cut out LAL.

Smith and the Port 1st is too high a price for Chi for Knecht (who seems like a good prospect)

The Bulls are in no position to trade 2 bigs or at least front court players for 2 more guards

Giddey, White, Jones, Huerter, Dosunmu, Carter and you want to put Knecht and Milton in that group. Milton is no prospect and when you take defense into account how does Knecht jump ahead of Jones, Dosunmu and Huerter to show if he can shoot the ball ?

consensus seem to be that knecht is worth a late 1st, which is also what POR 2026 1st is worth per your many threads in past
