I think everyone is waiting to see how he fills out his staff before the ultimate crash out begins  but it’s just an underwhelming hire. Not much to get excited about since he’s been around for a long time and we know what he is at this point. Would’ve preferred to get Jenkins or that guy from Minny. Just have to hope the Knicks know what they’re doing I guess.

I'm expecting Rick Brunson to be named an assistant on Brown's staff.

I can live with Rick and understand why keeping him would be a prerequisite but why would brown keep so many of Thibs former guys? He doesn’t have his own people that he’d want to bring on instead? Not trying to say it’s a red flag or anything but the list Begley put out there is pretty big. Then if Borrego comes too that has to be like all the assistants that teams usually have.

some continuity is probably his friend in this situation, as it often is for new coaches. they don't always slash and burn.

The assistants probably had a lot to do with Thibs being fired. I just have the feeling that there were assistants that tried to help with the rotation, but Thibs wasn't trying to listen.

the knicks were hemorraging braintrust during thibs' tenure. at the start, we have johnnie, kenny payne, woodson and they were all gone before thibs himself was fired

His staff is still in Sacto, no? Only he was fired, just like Thibs.

So....no Borrego or Nori? Just fire Thibs and keep the assistants? That really is wild as fuq if that's what they do.

Part of the 'collaborative coach' thing is probably keeping some of the assistants on, I'm sure Brown will have a few of his own but it seems that there will be a few sticking around, too. Whether it's continuity or whatever you want to call it, that was probably part of the gig.

Again, it definitely seems like part of the reason Jenkins likely lost some of his 'energy' for the job. He already had to deal with that in Memphis and even if it's not the same undercutting element as it was there, he just didn't want no part of that at all.

There's very little chance that anyone can present a convincing argument to me that Brown wasn't always the pick, possibly even with the Kidd part of it. The whole 'no plan' about the process or who was just media driven clickbait drivel.

Brown was their guy the moment they decided to fire Thibs, the whole interview process was kabuki theater to satisfy the appearances of it. That's why Bryant never even interviewed and it lingered through the draft and FA period, they always knew who it was going to be.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I have no idea but that does make sense. Considering they promoted Christie from being brown’s staff keeping the rest of the assistants seems normal. They did have a working relationship already unlike Thibs staff and Mike brown. Unless Brown has worked with some of these guys before? Maybe it’s just cuz when we usually fire coaches we clean house completely but it does seem a little unusual to keep so much staff.

Can we at least KAT at the 5 with a lineup that makes sense first though? I think there’s a lot of potential there.

But from what Begley said, it seems like Mitch will be the starting 5.

How does Begley know that? Brown was just hired and we don’t know what’s up with Borrego yet. No way the starting lineup is already decided.

We have no idea how Brown will be until the games begin. Its interesting though how fans went from he would be a terrible hire to all the optimism now after like two weeks.

How does signing Yabu mean that the FO prefers Mitch starting tho?

As they should.

the kings are a sorry organization, kinda hard to take what they have to say seriously, they have so many other issues to worry about

Reddit is so chock full of reasonable people though

Yeah they really need to name one prominent assistant anyway, like Borrego or Nori, to make things feel new and promising. Preferably an offensive savant
