RJ is still young as well, it's not like he reached his ceiling as a player....I'm expecting him to make a small leap this upcoming season.

Same. I hope we just run it how it is and see what happens. No need to rush.

I don’t even think Bobby wants to rush. It’s Ed Rogers :nonono:

It's getting ridiculous at this point. The Derrick White rumor was the only one where it was an actual upgrade. Bobby has been pretty clear that we are in talent accumulation mode, we aren't just dumping RJ for a downgrade in talent. For now, he is our starting 2 and an important piece for the next season. If he proves to not be a good fit and/or our young players take a big step to make him expandable, then we can start thinking of the types of moves people keep proposing. Until then, let's hope he keeps making improvements defensively and is able to do well in a more optimized role similar to when he first got on our team.

Yup.

And I keep saying, in games where BI or Barnes is out for injuries, we are going to be happy having RJ around for his scoring and some easy baskets.

WTF are the Kangs doing?????

Would much rather have Devin Carter and draft compensation than Jonathan Kuminga.

Schroeder
Lavine
Derozan
Kuminga
Sabonis

...not a good starting line-up at all. Not enough shooting.

I want to see this happen, along with them trading monk for schroeder. I want to see how bad it'll get.

The execs and agents? They were less friendly.

That is the worst draft trade I have seen in over a decade,” one Eastern Conference executive lamented.

“They should all be fired next year when that becomes a top 5 pick
,” relayed another.

Raps should’ve taken this Pels deal if what Dumars said was true

I made this “joke” draft night, but turns out it was the reality….

One Eastern executive with knowledge of how the conversation went from Atlanta’s perspective described a perplexing scene. When Senior Vice President Troy Weaver made the call to Atlanta’s Bryson Graham, Graham couldn’t believe what was actually being offered. Graham asked for clarification multiple times to confirm the unprotected pick was indeed part of the deal. It got to the point where Hawks General Manager, Onsi Saleh, called Joe Dumars directly to confirm for himself. The Hawks waited nervously for Dumars to confirm, hoping he would not realize what was going on and walk the trade back. But the Pelicans persisted and the Hawks got their steal.

Dumars said they started at 9. They didn't say what was offered.

Sounds more like the Pels were getting desperate by 13 and upped the offer, thinking that someone else was about to draft Queen.

This will be his 7th season. At this point I think we know what RJ provides.

He's also expiring next year, and unless he willing to take a significant pay cut, he won't be affordable.

Do you trade him now with another year remaining on his contract, or keep him and possibly lose him for nothing?

A pay cut with more yrs of security is a good deal for everyone, we just saw FVV do this. The way/how you talk/feel about him do you expect teams rushing to give RJ 30+ in FA?

a lot more teams will have cap space in the summer of 2027 and the salary cap will be higher.

If RJ doesn't have much value on the trade market now, he won't have much value come FA time. I really see him ending up like GTJ where he is basically making less than MLE money. Maybe just let him ride it out and see if we can bring him back for cheap if no team is really offering anything of value.

We had interest in Patrick Williams so I don't think that part of the deal is that bad. He can defend and make threes, he just hasn't lived up to his draft pick hype.

Ultimately you do this to take on Coby White who shot 45/37/90
60 ts%
52 3par

He averaged 28 PPG in March showing his scoring potential. Toronto doesn't have a scorer like Coby who bends defenses. Quickley isn't nearly as impactful and is a year older, shorter and lighter than Coby. To me, Coby White is the league's next breakout player.

Coby is a upcoming UFA, now you're going to have to give him the same contract RJ has + pay 18x3 for PWill, which will have ripple affects of cap/roster casualties. Coby is good, he's also smaller & probably a even defender to RJ, he's just not that much of a significant upgrade in my opinion.

Again our next move will be a move trying to go upward, not lateral to make our books look cleaner.

We'll be trading RJ + filler + picks for a star SG/SF
Or maybe even IQ + filler +;picks for star PG

I think we'll hear the Lakers being interested in Occhai soon. I could see them offering Knecht for Occhai and hope we don't do it to save 2 million.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

One of Ochai or RJ will have to go soon.

The raps won't be able to pay Ochai and he is on an expiring contract.
