Did you already forget you most recently said this?

Again, no one said he’d be as effective as Pascal or should play exclusively at the 4. But it should be an option, at least part-time, to get our best 5 on the floor. I was pretty clear about that from the start. Not sure what’s so difficult to understand about that other than you just wanting to argue.

Positionless basketball meaning everyone on the court can guard multiple positions and shoot.

This isn't achieving that in any which way.

All I needed to hear.

Iverson Armband wrote:One thing that bothers me tremendously about Paul George is his reluctance to play the 4. You mean to tell me the team is paying you 40M a year as basically a retirement gig and you can’t play 20 min a night at the 4? Siakum does it at basically the same size.

I just had an issue with this statement. The first sentence seemed wildly dramatic and it's illogical to expect Paul George even at his peak to be able to achieve what Pascal Siakam does defensively. They're in different size brackets entirely, maybe it doesn't appear that way on BBREF, but it's plainly obvious from watching them.

We seem to agree though, so there's nothing left to debate.

Y’all debating like Kelly Oubre not about to be our starting 4 and he smaller then everybody lol

This is our issue lmao. Neither of them should be playing anything other than spurt minutes as '4s' but on the 76ers we're going to need them to be, barring a Morey miracle or someone like Watford stepping up.

Offensively we should be dominant enough to still win a lot of regular season games, but our lack of functional size will get exposed *again* when the lights turn bright in April & May.

Embiid will be using a walker with tennis balls at the bottom of it by then anyway so it won’t even matter.

Ah true, it's been a while now since I last saw my favorite player Joel Embiid rolling around on the hardwood in brutal pain like something off of LiveLeak.

Sure am ready to watch my 76ers this upcoming fall!

They really need to resolve the Embiid situation before they start spending assets to compete in the playoffs.

I do wonder if we'd cut bait this season if things were going well as the TDL approached.

The last operation he got was allegedly rather minor and he's been in Philadelphia all offseason instead of going back to LA, and he's expected to be ready for camp.

The last time we saw him playing real NBA basketball after his most recent major injury, he was averaging 33/11/6 with a steal and a block in the playoffs with absurd on/offs.

Someone would pay genuine assets his services if they thought he could deliver them even one healthy playoff run and we'd have to use that as leverage.

If Embiid looks pretty good up until the trade deadline, there's no way Morey is trading him even if he is a ticking time bomb.

This is the catch-22 right.

I wouldn't expect him to, but It might be the right thing to do for the sake of the 76ers going forward.

This is exactly the Embiid conundrum: right now given his contract, he's untradeable, so we have to hope he's healthy next season and rehabs his trade value. But then if he does get back to close to his MVP-level form, it makes sense to see if he can be healthy in the playoffs. I, for one, would love just once to see a healthy Embiid in the playoffs, and I bet Morey would too. So I think the soonest we trade him is next offseason.

Because George prefers to guard the perimeter and he feels he’s better utilized there than being asked to be closer to the rim matched up vs bigger players. And that it’s physically demanding and takes a toll on his body. While folks will critique what he said (I paraphrased ) it makes sense if you want him effective at the other end.

At least we still have Maxey and didn't have to stretch Lillard.

For those sad about Yabu:

Yabu per 36 last year:
14.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.8 apg, 38% 3pt (5.2 3pa), 61.6% TS%, 24.5% FTr

Watford per 36 career:
16.1 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 3.8apg, 35% 3pt (2.4 3pa), 59.5% TS%, 34.9% FTr

Very similar production but Watford has a little more off the bounce & as a playmaker while Yabu is a better shooter. I’d rather have the Watford archetype as someone who can keep a defense rotating & bring a little more dynamism to our offense.

Is there a stat for 'dynamism' :D

the best bet for the Trade Embiid guys would be him having a comeback year with no set backs but we are just mid or outright bad come the deadline ...that probably leads to Nurse being fired and the Jo looking for a trade himself.

The more likely outcome is that Biid comes back, we are good but the fraudulent good in that you don't really trust it and we just ride it out on vibes alone before Biid inevitably has his annual set back either before or right after the deadline lol.

This is probably the last dance either way as I suspect he gets moved in next offseason to a team that misses out on someone....regardless of his health

Absolutely and even if I would do it, I can't see Morey trading Embiid while he was playing well unless Embiid asked out.

Of course, there's still a lot that needs to be determined. Will Embiid be able to play? How good will the team be? Will Morey get canned if the team flounders?

I'm contemplating an exception scenario where he gets traded. Something like the team is doing well and being led by Maxey. Embiid is healthy enough that a team is willing to take a risk on bringing in Embiid for a decent package. I think Morey still wouldn't want to trade him especially with his statements of the importance of treating stars well, but I think if ownership thought an injury was inevitable and pretty much told Morey he needs to trade Embiid, then its possible. But there's a lot of variable in this scenario.
