TimberKat wrote:What is a good comparison of Dilly's development arc after year one? I see him behind SGA, Billups, JMurray, Giddey, and Nembhard. Maybe close to Dennis Schroder but ahead of Tre Jones.
Realistically, what level can he end up?
I think he will be very likely a better player than Tyrus Jones or Clarkson.

Honestly, might be Jeff Teague.

I'm just saying where we are at after Year 1, which was the question posed.
Teague was drafted to a young Atlanta roster, which was coming off a 47-win season and an Eastern Conference semis run. Despite an overall young roster, Teague was drafted as a development piece behind the older Mike Bibby who was starting to decline and see his minutes reduced. While Teague played 71 games, he was the 9th man and played only 10.1 mpg as the team again went to the Eastern semis after a 53-win season.
If you are looking for markers of comparison for Dillingham, these are aspects that should be considered.

I had him #1 on my board for last draft since he was one of the only players with true star potential in the draft.
I don't think much has changed from my priors off 1 year on a great team while getting buried behind a swath of guard talent.

Dilly definitely has the offensive skills that could be star like if he plays to his full potential. He has size height weight similarity to Trae Young. He doesn't have the shot/range of Young. I can see him, given 30 Minutes or more, scoring 20 with 7 assists. He will give most of that back on defense.

I think that sounds about right (maybe a hint generous,) for his ceiling. However, I fear his floor will prevent him from getting the minutes to find out. I would love to be wrong about him, time will tell.

Dillingham is a better shooter than Trae. I appreciate the response!
