Derek Kramer

Deandre Ayton expected to sign with Lakers according to multiple outlets.

I would have talked myself into him if he went to Indy but mostly glad I don’t have to.

Same,… the west coast sportswriters have been trumpeting this loudly since the rumor of his buyout started to circulate. In his interviews he has been revelling in the attention. So, I gotta think this is way more likely than him joining the Pacers.

But it does ask the question,… how is LeBron going to coexist/deal with him, if even 60% of the stuff written about him is true?….

Edit: before posting, I had not seen that the deal is done. 16M over 2 years to LAL.

and our max ability to make an offer probably was the mid-level at 14. so 16 eliminated us.

Could be?... But I think his agent had a deal worked out with LA before he was ever bought out? At least some of the west coast talking heads were saying Ayton to LA was a lock before we even knew if the buyout was going to happen?.....

Pacers sign Tominaga, Japanese point guard that played for the Ants last year.

the story says he has a contract in Japan but has signed to play on our summer league team. if we're unhappy with Kam as the third point guard, I can talk myself into hating that we didn't draft a center at 38.

The waiver wire could get interesting. Today it's Landale.

Under most any circumstances don’t the Pacers at least need a backup stretch 5?

Thomas Bryant has 3 point range. Maybe we'll bring him back

I gotta agree. Been wondering why this hasn’t happened? IMO he played well last year as a backup up. Clearly not a starter. But, he brought good energy & effort, with better than expected results?…

You say you’re wondering why this hasn’t happened. Well none of the qualifying offers have been reported signed. I’m wondering if they can’t sign until the 6th ? Maybe if that’s the case then after those are signed the front office will get busy making moves for the needed centers. It’s been quiet for a reason I suppose and I’m not worried about the front office getting things done. I’m just waiting to see if I like what they do :P

You are exactly right. He’s a ufa, so the deal can’t be finalized until the 6th. I suppose he isn’t a big enough name that anyone would report that negotiations are taking place. Lol. :)

Wagner would start for us, if signed.

You’re probably right about that. Get that done while bringing back Jackson and Wiseman and we’re good?
In a bridge year might as well play the upside (dim as it might be) of Jackson/Wiseman vs Bryant/Bradley.

Wagner re-signing with the Magic. Seems the most likely outcome is we run it back with the guys we had last year, may be including Wiseman. Other options are running out. Jalen Smith would still be nice in my mind, but maybe they wouldn’t want that $9 million hit during the 2026-27 season.

Here is a name to think about.

Chris Boucher 6-9 PF/C FA Toronto

Played with Siakim for multiple years. Has a 7'4 wingspan( I think). Same age as Siakim.
Could he be a vet min option for us?

He was in a lot of trade proposals to us over the years. Doubt he take a minimum but I've seen worse ideas.
