I mean I agree but how would we know if Jake's middle name is L or I?

Crazy as that sounds its actually pretty mundane.
All of the other pieces of significance would be already agreed upon deals.

Some of the players being discussed are absolutely shocking…

You take the time to check whenever something earthshaking comes along.
Look at the other posts from that account- do they match things that have actually happened? Check around the rest of the internet- is there buzz surrounding this? What is the origin of that buzz? Search for Jake Fischer on google. Is this the account that actually comes up?
Verify something before spreading it to other people. It's not that hard.
It's possible to work this out. People just don't try before they react.

Again generally all good advice, but I don't think this meets the criteria of information for me to take the time and find Jake Fischer's middle name. Also I don't even have Twitter and can't see Fake Fischer's other outlandish tweets. Maybe Fischer should stop using a disinformation platform that makes it basically impossible to verify that he's the real one?

You keep harping on the middle name thing despite the fact that I mention several ways you could have determined it was fake without knowing that.
I don't have twitter either. You could have simply googled "Jake Fischer NBA". In fact do that. Now. His main account shows up. And it's not the one with the I. The other advice I gave (other than looking at the other posts on the account) can also be done without having twitter.
Yes- we absolutely live in an environment that allows misinformation to thrive. And that sucks. But everyone still has a responsibility for their own media literacy. You can't just shrug and say "well, how was I supposed to know". That's what most people do, and it contributes to the problem. If you care about believing true things you need to take the time to ferret these things out.
It's interesting that you say "I mean I agree" initially, yet I don't think you do agree with what I originally posted tbh.
