Knicks to Hire Mike Brown as Next Head Coach

I've found that its not only ok to realize you're wrong but it feels good when you admit it. As much as I wanted Bryant. Mike Brown brings experience
plus so much of what we didnt have and so much of what we need F N 11!

I think we all had that “ugh Mike Brown moment” I personally wanted a big name but like everything in life, you review and make a decision. I don’t always go all out like I did for Frank and RJ. But when I do for people like Thibs I was right.

I just wanted to know what Brown did without LeBron or Kobe and that's really a very small part of his resume. It is relevant to the discussion but, apparently not.

I am rooting for him. I have my concerns but, they aren't as rigid as why I didn't want Thibs. I can't wait to see the last two roster spots fleshed out and the coaching staff. So far, it's rumored that most of Thibs guys will be back. Doesn't that raise eyebrows?

if you have one opinion and someone else has another opinion and neither of your minds have been changed then it stands to reason you will continue to debate those items when they come up, if and when they do. that's not the same thing as someone chasing you around "trolling" or "derailing" a topic. it was one thing to call the police on meLo but if accusing people of derailing topics and breaking the rules every time a conversation goes unpleasant is the new norm it might be time for me to pack it up cause that's just weak

I would love an actual PG that can run the offense when Brunson sits. I think that should have actually been priority followed by C. Yabusele was a good move. I trust they try to make sense of these last two spots. I am not a fan of Clarkson. Hope I'm wrong there too.

A good assistant. That's where it all hinges for me. Who's offense are we running? All I have heard about Mike is he tried to run Princeton style offense once and it didn't work. That he was supposed to defense oriented. The stint in SAC gives me hope. Who was responsible for that offense? Would it work here?

If we simply keep Thibs assistants, which one of them helps with the offense? Last few assistants that we knew of are gone. Bryant/Woodson.

Bro...it wasn't different opinions being debated. It was someone arguing with me about something I wasn't even trying to say and completely ignoring MY point. Just pushing ahead with nothing relevant to the point I repeatedly clarified. Then ANOTHER poster jumps in and continues to do the same thing! as I repeatedly and calmly kept saying go away. Ok. Some context to what worked in SAC. Will we play that way here? It already looks more organized and with a purpose to the player movement. The game isn't telling you what to do in those clips. Obviously I'm latching on to small glimpses of hope here but, it's gotta come from somewhere.

Thanks for this. It really answers most of my questions concerning Mike Brown. It's not really a fluff piece or just finger pointing at his record. It shows how he IS like Thibs but, has evolved over the years UNLIKE Thibs. Gives him credit for that SAC offense. I'll take it.

Because it implies he's been coaching that entire time, which he hasn't been. He got fired in 2014 from Cleveland, then didn't get another head coaching job until the 2023 season, which is 9 years in and of itself. Hard to make it past the 1st round when you're not even coaching

Even if we could the 2013 season where he only coached 5 games, it's only been 6 seasons since he made it out of the 1st round. For comparison, Thibs had not made it out of the first round in 5 seasons as a coach before making it to the 2nd round in 2023.

You’re just arguing semantics to avoid addressing the elephant in the room. Has he ever had any playoff success outside of coaching Bron? He’s had multiple talented teams on the Lakers and kings.

Counter point to this is that Thibs hasn't had success outside of Rose and Brunson, which i wouldn't hold against Tom. I don't think having LeBron should be a knock against Mike either, you can't win without talent.

Look at Jordi Fernandez, people here are giving him the credit for Sacramento's offense but he just coached the Nets to the 2nd worst offense and defense in the league, but no one can hold that against him because his best player was literally Cam Thomas, and he got hurt.

I think for me, I gotta focus on how Mike's past offensive and defensive systems will fit this roster.

To your point about Jordi, I think that’s a valid point. And shams also said that one of the reasons that the Knicks hired Brown was because of his offense. So they must think that Jordi doesn’t deserve all the credit, like you said.

The Knicks weren't going to make the playoffs that season until Derrick Rose joined the roster.

They didn’t get better when they got rid of him in either case. Lakers got swept in the first round the year he got fired just after 5 games. And the Kings missed the playoffs this year after firing him after 31 games.

The lakers made it to the playoffs after they fired Brown. They were 0-4 when he got fired.

The Kings were 13-18 with Mike brown this past season. They went 27-24 after they fired Mike brown.

Yeah but the year before they made it to the second round with Mike Brown.

The Kings still didn’t have a better record than they did with him overall.

So all we have from Brown outside of coaching Bron is a second round appearance. That’s pretty disappointing. And he had Kobe, Gasol, Bynum that year, so it’s not like he didn’t have talent.

I mean Doug Christie has only coached half a year. So of course he isn’t going to have a better record overall when Brown has two seasons under his belt with kings.

That team was definitely not washed when they only made it to the second round. Kobe averaged 28, Bynum averaged 18, Gasol averaged 17. Brown should’ve at least gotten to the wcf with that talent.

Hopefully Mike brown can turn it around like Thibs but I have my doubts since he couldn’t do much with some talented kings teams. Will be rooting for him though.
