Ace Bailey is the anti-christ

Crap, 2 days before the SL our top 3 pick says that he´s non-binary and identifies himself as a point guard...

The Simmons equivalent for VJ would be if he claimed that he should be a center while simultaneously refusing to shoot in the paint.

I for one don't want our guards working on point guard skills. No way.

Klay is listed at 6.5 and looks almost the same height than VJ.

This video is actually impressive. Still has a ways to go in iso creation but the pick and get downhill flashes are present there. Once he proves he can finish through contact, the fouls he’ll get from just attacking the rim and the pump fakes that will come from the defender biting because they’re a step late will lead to FTs. I see the vision.

VJ is definitely growing on me. You read the scouting reports before the draft and they made him the safe but unsexy pick. The glimpses we get from him make me think the scouting reports were underselling him quite a bit.

He seems to be the same type of great character / hard worker archetype that Maxey is. The difference being he's bigger and even more athletic. The sky's the limit if he can hone his handle and finishing to be a 3 level threat. The defense will be there day one. The outside threat should be there shortly thereafter. Can't wait to watch

Makes sense. Klay looks about an inch taller, and VJ is listed at 6-4.

It was always strange to me that the best athlete in the draft was being discussed as the low upside pick.

His role is to complement future superstar Jared McCain by defending the best opposing guards, hitting open 3’s, and being a secondary playmaker. That shouldn’t be too much for someone with massive star potential picked #3 overall.

Not a lot to go off in this but his handle does look underwhelming for a guard. He's in the perfect situation tho because we do not need him to be a finished product for a few more years and I think he can learn a lot from Maxey & PG

Are you insinuating my modest expectation of defending opposing lead guards, hitting open 3's, and being a secondary playmaker is too big an ask for our #3 overall draft pick?

His handle is fine, much more concerned with his finishing at the basket. Not much of a left hand.

Is VJ Edgecombe a better scorer than Maxey or McCain were in college?

I’ve also noticed that VJ tends to play within the flow of the offense, scoring through spot-ups, putbacks, transition, or off-screen actions. But when it comes to closing halves, and especially games, he shifts into another gear and becomes more assertive, looking to get to the paint or draw fouls.

I would say no to your first question

I actually think that the outcome one should hope for in VJ first year is to take on what both Thompson twins learned in their 2nd year. They both said they wanted to and worked on point guard skillset to go along with their freakish athleticism and defense. Be stat suffers and take advantage of transition opportunities and off the ball opportunities at the basket by working hard.

I do believe VJ is further along than both of them with his ball handling and shooting, maybe even passing. But he's smaller with a lesser wingspan for that other stuff. But if he's that type of player, it's a win. Im hoping for essentially Suggs with more athleticism and hopefully that jumper comes along
