Sac opening up more tax space is a win to me. They need to fix their roster and Val wasn’t a good fit. Or just blow it up and at least have saved some money here..

Denver making it so Joker only needs to play 36 instead of 40 minutes per game is a win to me..

now sac is left without a back up C though. dont see this as a win for them when they traded 2nd(s) for Val recent TDL

They've got some young guys they like there, I assume that's the plan.

Awesome, the team that already owns the Clippers harder than any other team in the league trades for one of the biggest Clipper killers in the league. Val turns into peak Steph every time he plays us.

If this gives the Kings more money/flexibility to make another move then I'm all for it.

If they paid for Val and he was a bad fit, that means they lost that trade (hindsight) not this trade?

Keeping a bad fit because they paid for it would be a different bad idea?

Denver and Milwaukee with 2 simple but expensive transactions unlocked their teams.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

We drafted Maxime who lots had as a pick in the 20s this draft. 4 year college, ready to go. When you have Sabonis, you expect hes getting 35+mpg.

And I agree, Kings fans wanted and put pressure to get JVal last year. I said 100x during the deadline, he brings nothing different to this team. The backup needs to be able to shoot 3s or block shots. We may have found a guy who can do both?

Idk about the mechanics of the deal, but Kuminga's big gripe with the Warriors was that he was buried on offense and never got a chance to be the focal point. I doubt he'd be much happier in Denver.

Kuminga focal point on offense is madness .

I see him in a Westbrook type of role where just makes back cuts and stuff while Jokic is in the game, but Kuminga carries the second unit offense.

They can stop padding Jokic's plus minus stats!

Nice pickup for Denver. Hopefully they end up with some actual depth after that MPJ trade. Solid start so far.

True. But Golden State's system is a lot more complicated. Lots of guys just don't work out in Golden State because they lack a feel for the motion offense. In Denver, Kuminga could just stand in the corner while Jokic is in the game, and then hot dog it with the ball when Jokic is out.

....or maybe not

https://basketnews.com/news-227332-jonas-valanciunas-walks-away-from-nba-for-major-euroleague-deal.html

Looks like Valanciunas is actually leaving the NBA.

Did Denver trade for him knowing he was going to forgo some/all of his contract to go to Europe and getting out of Saric's contract?

Or did he just screw Denver?

Impact on this trade?

If im horford I immediately pivot from gs/la to Denver. Can't ask for a better shot at a title. + I think now Denver can spend more on him, right?

I wonder if this means they can now target Al Horford? Horford is quality backup that can make a impact on a contender. Between the Warriors and Nuggets, the Nuggets would be better option for him. Can get paid about the same amount of money, while also having a far better chance to win compared to the Warriors.

If anything, this means they can now go after Al Horford, who's better than Jonas Valanciunas. The Nuggets are not losing any sleep over Valanciunas deciding to play for Europe.

Don't do this Jonas, Denver is a beautiful city and you'll have a chance to win a ring with the best player in the NBA

Al - if you're reading this, Denver is a pretty provincial city, much less going on than the Bay Area. You can still be a starter for one of the best run orgs in the league

This kind of came out of left field. But if this is what would make JV happy, can't fault him. He'll be a big fish there, literally
