My sense is that management is not going to flagrantly tank for a top 2 position. They do want to develop the youngsters and don't want to teach them to accept losing. But at the same time, they're not stupid. They're not going to win enough to relinquish the protected pick they owe to NY. If the team starts inching up to 6th-worst or 7th-worst record in the league, they will shift from ethical tanking to flagrant tanking. Anybody who has been playing well will get "hurt".

Hurt or traded. And I don't see why this would even be challenged.

One thing - you don't want to be 7th. It is easy for two to jump the line.

He's a restricted FA so we can match whatever offer he gets. I don't really see other teams lining up to snatch him away from us so I assume he'll take the qualifying offer?

The salary of a two-way player is half that of the rookie minimum, so around $600,000, I would imagine his agent is trying to get him more money overseas, or some team is going to offer a 3-year $9M deal, just a guess.

I kinda hope we don't sign Kuminga.

We seem to always go after young, incomplete players who couldn't really cut it on their original teams.

This feels like Kyle Kuzma/ Jordan Poole all over again.
