Tough negotiations don’t mean he’s gone even though you want him gone.

What made you think I want him gone. I’m more upset about no pick for insurance in case he would walk.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Don't resign him or sign/trade him. Trade Coby and/or Ayo. Overplay the young guys. Win 14 games.

Giddey's on/off splits were mediocre. The Bulls were a bit better without Giddey on the court this season, which isn't good for someone who wants 30M AAV. In OKC, this could be excused due to the poor fit and talent on that team, but the Bulls aren't talented enough for this to be overlooked.

He wants 30M based on the last 25 games not the previous 57.

We need money for a legit #1. You are not that, Josh. At least not yet. Don't screw yourself over while overestimating your worth. You need good teammates for the money to matter! Or else you're gonna be the first guy trying to skip town because the team as constructed cannot support you for a title run by any stretch of the imagination.

I could see Giddey at 35 and Bulls at 25, or even Giddey at 40 and Bulls at 30/25.

I could see him asking for $30 million in hopes of getting $27 million. I think they will settle around $25 million. Or he could take the qualifying offer, but I don’t see negotiations that badly though.

We also need to not let this ruin the relationship. Don’t let it get personal.

30M is not #1 option, franchise player money.

To back up what Red is saying - there are currently 59 players making 30 million AAV or more.

Sure this is sort of dragging out (even though it's only like day 3 or 4 of FA) I haven't really seen any reports that there is any sort of animosity brewing for either side.

That being said, I think if this drags out too long, Giddey will just sign a short term deal, IMO.

The thing is I don't think Giddey has too much leverage in all this. I haven't seen any reports of teams being interested in possibly acquiring him via S&T, unlike Kuminga where there has been multiple reports.

I'm not overly worried about the situation currently.

This draggout is longer than expected.. If Giddey over values himself with ober 30M demands, trade him or let him walk. He aint on that level just yet.. 25 good games doesnt change whole script

The "Gulf of Mexico" comment makes me think Giddey is chasing a very large number, because it was already in the aether during the season that he would likely be looking at $30m or so. I wonder if Giddey is asking for above $35m and the Bulls are in the mid to low 20s.

I am higher on Giddey than most, and I think there is a solid chance he could play up to a $35m deal. But that is a number where given the market conditions it would be bad business by the Bulls to give it to him. I'd be confident in Giddey remaining a positive trade asset on anything $30m or less.

They need another team to step up and pay him $30m in a sign and trade.
