Jumpshots from 6'8 players with 7ft wingspans don't get blocked. If a more concise jumper leads to a better % that's a good thing.
GD should slow down some of his jumpers, sometimes he has more space and time when he's coming off those girls
Agreed. Scottie may not be able to shoot 3s well but getting his shot off is not something he struggles with and getting it blocked is not something that happens to him often, so I’m not worried about the slow release. If it helps him become more accurate then it’s alright with me
Looking at stats around the league from various players, it seems that the bulk of 3 point shooting comes from wide open, 0 dribble, catch and shoot threes.
It’s the most efficient shot with the highest frequency for practically all players - Curry has more open shots (4-6 ft) than wide open shots (6+ ft) for obvious reasons. Everyone’s efficiency dips when they take just open shots as opposed to wide open shots.
Pretty much every shooter takes a lot of 0 dribble shots (i.e. catch and shoot), to which they’re most efficient at. For most players, taking 1, 2, or 3-6 dribbles before shooting is either at a low volume or low efficiency. These shots are still worth taking for players like Brunson, Irving, Curry, etc...but most other players should only use the on-ball/off the dribble three as a last resort.
In that context, I think the main area of focus for Scottie should be to just getting his catch and shoot to a respectable level.
