The more likely outcome is that Biid comes back, we are good but the fraudulent good in that you don't really trust it and we just ride it out on vibes alone before Biid inevitably has his annual set back either before or right after the deadline lol.

This is probably the last dance either way as I suspect he gets moved in next offseason to a team that misses out on someone....regardless of his health

This. Though we are a pretty garbage franchise there are just so many garbage teams in this league that if Embiid is 80% of his MVP level our team is going to be better than good enough that Harris and Morey would never trade him. They are milking this era until it ends similar to how Yao ended.

This is the most likely scenario and we should all be wise enough to consider that. Dozens of dudes over the years show out with crazy playing time and then return to being average bench players or meh starters. I feel like Covington was a prime example of this at the end of the 2015, 2016, 2017 seasons.

If I'm making a bet Grimes is more likely to be that than some diamond in the rough that wasn't in the right opportunity.

I definitely have the same concern considering his stretch with us was an outlier, and on a bad team not playing competitive basketball. However, most of his production was comparable to the rest of his career on average. He just had a large increase in minutes and attempts. There are so many variables to consider, such as the defenses were likely game planning to stop him. However, most of the teams we played weren’t even fielding lineups to try to win.

I don’t have a great grasp of the current market, but Grimes is a good starter, so the reported $15M-$18M range seems reasonable. Anything more and I would probably be fine with him taking the QO, because I am not certain more than that ages well.

It's definitely a concern. 15M a year seems like good value now, but we're all eager to get Drummond's 5M off the books. If Grimes turns out to be a losing player, we'll be a lot more eager to get off that 60M.

$15m/yr is great value for Grimes. Tired of all the haters denigrating this man, who has proved his value in the league as a two-way stud.

If we think Grimes may be fools gold( which we shouldnt ignore the possibility, since we were tanking hard last year) we should limit his offer to 15 milions/4 years or the QO. Let him prove it, or risk losing the guaranteed money, it´s up to him, we have the advantage over him, since the market is not good right now for "middle class" nba players.

Does anyone know if the deal Grimes signs will have any player or team options in the final year? Not familiar with RFA deals. Guess I could look up RFA deals signed and check team salaries

Jabari Walker is a big addition to a team that can't rebound. Can't he shoot enough to get minutes, though?

I remember him being a strong rebounder in fantasy two seasons ago but seemed to fall out of the rotation this past year. Good gamble.

Just trade for Jalen Smith now and call it a day! 25 and under squad!

He's decent and can be a rotation player on a team with aspirations, though if he was a "two way stud" someone would have signed him by now! Duncan Robinson is getting over 15 in this market  .

I don't see it. He got to put up a ton of shots on a GLeague roster that was tanking games. He's a reserve on a contending team. I like Grimes...I like his game, I guess 15 mill is fair, but it still seems like an overpay.

He's got 2 years of a 3/27 contract remaining.

Are you thinking Drummond & Gordon or Oubre as a trade?

Yes, Oubre + Drummond + a 2nd or two. Clears almost $5 mil as well as getting another young role player.

Also down with Obi Toppin or PJ Washington. Neither are 25 or younger but are still well under 30.

Pass on Jalen Smith, he has the motor, IQ and reaction speed of Mo Bamba
