If Portland waived DA because they didn't want multi year contracts in return then no way are they taking on Beal's 54M and NTC.

You may be right. The obvious difference is that Ayton had 1 year remaining, and the Blazers had 5 centers. Grant has three years left, and the Blazers have a serious lack of perimeter shooting.

No doubt that the Suns would do it, but I think Beal wouldn't want to play for the Blazers.

Would there be any interest in trading Jerami Grant for Bradley Beal?

I'm actually not sure if this works under the CBA, but what about Grayson Allen for Kris Murray?

Allen would provide much needed perimeter spacing for the Blazers, and is more flexible in terms of being able to play both the SG and SF position off the bench.

The Suns would duck under the second apron, and, I believe, could not pick up the team option on Murray next year if they wanted to.

It would have to involve RWIII or Matice Thybuille to trade Beal, but assuming his buy out happens, I'd do your deal too.

I meant, I'm not sure if the Grayson Allen for Kris Murray would work under the CBA. With the Beal trade the concern is, as always, the NTC, so I proposed that as an alternative if the CBA permits.

The Blazers still get their shooter and the Suns get below the 2nd. I believe it works due to Ayton forfeiting 10 mil on his Buyout (but I'm not 100% sure)

Portland certainly needs shooting, dunno who Allen plays over though with Jrue, Sharpe, Avdija, Camara, Grant already in tow. Maybe he just plays over Grant...or Grant is moved? Allen probly helps you more than Sharpe right now but not enough to take his minutes I dont think.

Allen for Murray would not work. Thybulle or Williams would need to go out, which saves less immediately, but still something. Either could be bought out or rerouted to save money.

wonder if Denver knew this was going to happen. If not, that's a pretty big blow. Basically gave up assets for him. If the deal isn't done yet I wonder if they renege.

EDIT: Found this, so I guess it will still go down

just bench him, he will ask out!
Didn't work last time, but that wasn't a long term assignment either. Budenholzer didn't have the will to stick it to him and see it through.

Waiving and stretching Beal would be the death knell on any hopes of a playoff team over the next 5 years. Can't build a roster with 15% of your cap held by dead money over 5 years.

If it had to come to this, we should have used the 1st we used on Mark Williams to dump the Beal contract.

Might as well trade Booker right now if we're doing the waive and stretch.

Marc Stein:

The Suns and Heat had exploratory dialogue
this week on a potential Bradley Beal trade
league sources say, but the talks ultimately
collapsed.

The rising expectation now is that the Suns
could well end up buying Beal out of the
contract that contains one of just two full
no-trade clauses in the league - along with
LeBron James' deal in Lakerland - after
Phoenix initially told various candidates
interviewed during its recent coaching search
that they might have to start the season with
Beal on the roster.

Unless Beal surrenders at least $14 million from
the nearly $111 million left on his contract over
the next two seasons, Phoenix would not have
the payroll flexibility to employ the league's
waive-and-stretch provision on a Beal buyout
like Milwaukee stunningly did with Damian
Lillard
The Heat will have interest in signing Beal ifhe
can make it to unrestricted free agency.
Sources say both Milwaukee and Miami, in fact,
would have interest in signing Beal in that
scenario.

Still feel like we should be able to trade Grayson and possibly Royce to get under

I am tired of reading about the positives and negatives. I say keep him unless there are locker room issues. I would focus of trading Allem, O'Neal and Richards while reducing our salary by 11 Mil. Art least I think that is the magic number.

Can't wait until summer league so we can actually talk about our new guys. I have high hopes. I hope they do not disappoint.

Well, that finally clears a few things up eh Saber? It’s less than what we discussed at the end of the season, for those who don’t remember or refuse to acknowledge information that doesn’t fit their agendas. Hehe

I look forward to the collective aneurysm this board is going to have.

At least Week thought it through a bit.

Beal still holds the cards … but the process got a lot more realistic.

Option 2 is what I have been advocating for... wrote about those exact numbers earlier 94-98m - and DavidIVPointPlay had it at 13.9

Granted, if the SteinLine is true about the trades - they might have to stretch him just to be able to trade multiple players together

I'm not saying the new young guns don't have potential, but there were also high expectations for Bates Diop and Tyus Jones. The Suns were cooking the previous two summers, or so people thought. It turned out differently.
