I essentially added a couple of consistent rumors together to get a feel for what this collective mind wants in terms of roster construction.
Personally, I’d rather the current collection of Kasparas, Herro, Jovic, Bam, Ware, and Mitchell get all the run they need to figure out what they are, both individually and as a collective.
I think it’d be fair to say that we all know who Bam, Herro and Mitchell are and can be, but I don’t know that we can honestly say that about Jovic and Ware. And we sure as hell can’t say that we know what Kasparas will be.
As of now, I’d like to see Jovic as a SF with Bam/Ware, as well as playing as the PF with Ware OR Bam. I’m not saying it will work, I’m saying that we don’t know if it will or won’t.
Any idea of getting a superstar, or star, or proven scorer/playmaker this season doesn’t make logical sense to me. So if you believe the ship is not seaworthy, then I’d surmise that the best course of action is to allow that ship to sink, so that you may build anew.
Cap looks to be in excellent condition going forward, as of this writing. That, along with the pick situation getting significantly better soon, leads to a prime opportunity to build a new foundation.
Doesn’t it make sense to find out if any of the men I’ve mentioned fit as foundational pieces?
I would add Jaime and Pelle to the list of players we don't really know who they are yet. Watching what Indiana did this year, and I see no reason why JJJ and Pelle can't perform the way some of the Pacers guys did. I'm willing to believe last year was just a down year for Jaime, while with Pelle he showed brief flashes that he might be able to do a little more than just spot up, some of his drives were impressive, as was his finishing ability at times.
I'm normally someone who thinks people go overboard with the "play the young guys" stuff, as if you can salvage anyone by just force feeding minutes, but this roster really does have a number of unknowns who deserve to become known this year, assuming the roster is close to what it is now on opening day.
