That’s potentially tricky when one of them (two if you count Bane) is very injury prone and another is currently a teenager.

Whether Howad is on the roster or not, he is a not part of a rotation. So: what should the Magic do with the Houstan slot?

There are LLE vets that would be more usefult to this roster as a 3rd string SG over Houstan. Some thoughts: Alec Burks, Garrison Mathews, Landry Shamet. Heck, even bringing Quenn back on a guarenteed deal is a better move than Houstan.

In conclusion: the Magic really needs a deep-bench SG as its Mr #14.

Oh dear

So much hate on WCJ

People just don't understand how valuable he is to this team

I somewhat agree…I’d love to upgrade to a more reliable consistent starter, but Goga and Moe are not superior to WCJ. Salary dumping a starter is not a real plan anymore…we’ll still be over the cap without means of replacing the starter. Would have to be a trade for a better-fitting replacement if WCJ goes out.

I’d be happy bringing back Caleb…it’s not like you’ll find someone cheaper.

He knows the system. But his appallingly bad defence is too much a liability. There are other (better) vet-min guards to play 3rd-stringer combo-wing.

Maybe. Maybe not. He’s cheap and big enough to play 3 positions- that versatility is valuable for a deep bench guy who is familiar on top of it.

Also, I’m a believer that our crappy iso stagnant offense directly affected EVERYONE on the team’s 3pt%…a good offseason with some significant positive changes in personnel & scheming could/should lift shooting across the whole lineup. Caleb could easily become an elite, high-volume 40%+ bomber like Duncan or Hield at 1/5 the cost. Idk who I’d prefer at that price point.

I'm happy, KCP is gone. I didn't like those gambling rumors between him and his wife. I have no proof, but he appeared to be trying to manipulate the numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if the Feds say they are investigating him at some point.

That would probably explain his poor shooting because he bet against himself! :banghead:

Would you guys be in favor of an Anthony Black for Dereck Lively II trade straight up? The Mavs could use some guard/wing depth since they have a surplus of bigs. We could get a rim running/Paint protector in Lively plus he is a couple million dollars cheaper than black which could allow us to give more money to Moe.

We would then need to find a team to take Dell for maybe a Grayson Allen/Malik Monk type of player to fill that shot creator/Spacer role. Thoughts?

Lively only played 91 games (23min per game) in two years. I am not confident in his health…

Saying Wendell is valuable to this team is like the days when folks here were saying that Cole is the pg of the future.

Can't wait to watch him pump fake us out of contention.

I would definitely consider it, but it would depend somewhat on what they could get in return for Carter.

If they were just dumping Carter for garbage, I’d be less inclined.

If they could flip him into an actual rotation player at the 2/3, I’d be on board.

Black is too valuable for this upcoming year.

Respectfully, what does this have to do with how appallingly bad a defender he is?

Not me.

Queen is pretty much just a try hard scrub.

That is a valid point. What about a 3 team trade like this.

Magic get Anfernee Simons and Maxwell Lewis

Celtics get Wendell Carter Jr. and Johnathan Isaac

Nets get Jett Howard

Celtics get the center they need and a versatile defender in JI on a really team friendly contract.

Nets take a flyer on Jett who’s dad is a coach for them.

We get a really good shot creator and someone who can fill in for when Suggs or Bane get banged up.

Suggs/Jones/Jase
Bane/Simons/?
Franz/TDS/Lewis
Paolo/Panda/?
Lively/Moe/Goga

We would then have 2 open roster spots for vet minimum players. I think this team could be really fun to watch and still have a ton of room for growth.

And so is Houstan.

This is why the Magic should be looking at the Landry Shamet's of the FA market. There is value in the vets at the LLE range.
Heck: 11 years later, there is still a chance at Seth Curry.

It makes the roster incredibly unbalanced. I would likely pass at this stage of the offseason.

WCJ fits our defense and it would be pretty disruptive to change to a more traditional center.

Defense is not an issue for this team as constructed.

5th or 6th guards usually are. Queen has had some great games tho moreso than Caleb and is dirt cheap.
