Charlotte trade Okogie
Orlando trade: Isaac

Why for Charlotte: add a big
Why for Orlando: duck the tax

NOoooo...ORL is a big difference-maker defensively. I know Okogie is a defender, but Isaac is 7' and freakishly agile...not untouchable, but not dumpable for salary reasons alone, imo.

I am looking at Isaac and seeing career averages of like 7 pt 5 reb in 20 min over 6 years. I see a lot of games missed. Looks like he is getting 15 mil for the next 3 years before a year 4 team option. I would probably pass.

Is Isaac's 40 games played worth paying tax for

Absolutely...and he played 71 games last year without a mishap, the games he missed were precautionary, back to backs, etc. He's been very effective on his minutes restriction. I'm not ignoring his history, but he's a very impactful player -as impactful as ANY defender in the league when he's on the floor - so that's too much to just piss away for cash savings by a team that's clearly diving into the deep financial end (for now at least). He also was very open at his end of year meeting, saying that the bulking up last summer, that was proposed by the FO and supported by him (presumably, to get more minutes at C) was a fail-he felt lethargic and slow-footed and is excited about dropping the weight this summer and getting back to being himself on both ends. His defensive ratings were still very strong but, at his best, he impacts game planning because he's so disruptive from perimeter to rim. If we get a healthy year from Isaac & Suggs, the ORL defense could be pure misery - those are proactive defenders...they don't just stop things from happening, they make bad things happen to opposing offenses. I'm betting on that explanation...it does track, even to the offensive end, where heavy legs can kill shooting from distance and rebounding pretty quickly - which is the bulk of Isaac's contribution.

Additionally, the entire Orl team hit career lows from 3 (individually), so with the new influx of playmakers and, hopefully, more of a dynamic offensive scheme, I expect Isaac (and everyone) to, at least, return to their career % or better.
